unfortunate place to be
Occupational Therapy Assistant Intern (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTJune 13, 2018
This place has employees who do care for their clients and want the best for each one, but they have a lot of staff who should not be working with the mental health population. They treat their clients based on the stigmas of mental health, instead of the actual persons abilities and characteristics. Management sits back and pretends not to know what id going on in some facilities, instead of finding new employees to replace the ones who should NOT work there.

Company had no interest in advancing my career with them and had an emphasis on micro-managing employees. Very difficult place to maintain a job. Would not recommend this company

ACT team Clinical Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTJune 6, 2018
Gilead does great work for their clients, however Administration does not care for their employees. Pay sucks, no advancement unless you kiss their behinds. People will mess up and throw others under the bus. overall, I would avoid working for Gilead you will age faster than the years pass.

OPC ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTAugust 25, 2017
Great staff members to work with however the budget cuts severely impacted the agency as a whole due to the many changes that had to be made making it a tough agency to work for at the end.

Good place to work
Clinical Case Manager (Current Employee) –  Middletown, CTJune 26, 2017
Good place to start. Co-workers are friendly and helpful. A typical day includes managing the schedule for clients and education of clients as they work toward the goals on their treatment plan. Management varies as in all work places, some are good some are not.
Cons
Little room for advancement.

Entry Level Jobs
Clinical Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTFebruary 28, 2017
Gilead is a great company to work for as an entry level employee. However, there is limited opportunity for advancement without a Master's Degree and the company is extremely top heavy. Very high turnover rate due to lack of support from upper management and low employee satisfaction. The compensation is a bit higher than other surrounding non-profit agencies but there is absolutely no opportunity for a raise despite many years of union negotiations with the companies upper management. The work can be rewarding at times, but there is constantly a lack of staff due to the high turnover rate which mandates employees to work overtime regularly. Management maintains too high expectations and not enough resources for their employees to get the job done. Good experience but it is essential to move on after a couple of years.

Wonderful place to work to assist clients with pervasive and chronic mental illness.
Float (per diem) (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTJanuary 19, 2017
Co-workers, for the most part, were supportive of each other. Upper level management was estranged from field workers and actual day to day operations. Supervisors were very supportive of workers and very helpful.

Float (Former Employee) –  Various programsJanuary 19, 2017
Wonderful mission to assist persons with chronic and pervasive mental illness. However, upper level management was not supportive of its employees. This is truly a grass roots organization. Most co-workers in the various programs were supportive and knowledgeable.

This was the most generous company to their clients in assisting with what each client needed the most and could not afford.
Program Manager (Former Employee) –  Clinton, CTFebruary 12, 2016
Gilead Community Service was an excellent place for me to work. I received a lot of support and continued training, The administrators were always professional. I learned how to do payroll and yearly evaluations.
The most rewarding part of the job was when we passed inspections after a bad year of failing inspections.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the clients and see that they trust you and are happy where they live.
As a supervisor of case managers it was always good to hear that I was able to bring a lot to the table in the way of training.
Pros
Company vehicles, trainings.
Cons
Short Staffed at times

I love working here, I would highly recommend this agency for any one starting up in this field. I have learned how to work with people with multiple mental health conditions. I wouldn't trade my job for anything in the world.

direct care workers work very hard with little support/ compensation
Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Middletown, CTJanuary 5, 2015
This company has a great mission statement and plans for their clients that looks good on paper however their day to day operations prove oppressive to the direct care worker. Management throughout the agency has free reign to ruin direct care workers lives and make their work experience miserable. When this is brought to Union and human resources attention nothing is done to help. Employees are consistently made to feel they are not valued. Benefits are poor. Programs are all filthy, dangerous and uncomfortable to work in.

Clinical Case Manager (Current Employee) –  Middletown, CTAugust 26, 2014
Excellent team work among colleagues, a union agency with good benefits. Pay is competitive in the field but still not what a person with a Bachelor's Degree is worth.
Pros
paid 30 minute lunch
Cons
overtime is available but given to full-time employess as a last resort.

Nice professional opportunity
Clinical Case Manager (Former Employee) –  Clinton, CTMarch 11, 2014
Although I only worked here for a short period of time. There was plenty of information passed that set me up to make some professional desicions. The agency provided a great medical benefits package, all employees had access to a union and the pay was great. Management was kind of all over the place, but the people who worked there made the job easy. that was clear in the amount of time these individuals had in on the job.
