Working at any Charter School is hard work, but GCCS is Great
Administrator Coordinator (Former Employee) – Harlem, NY – June 9, 2018
Staff are generally given, much like charters themselves, autonomy and accountability. New leadership this year has really improved the academics of the school and created better conditions for people to work in. The kids are great - they can stress you out, but they're great.
As an independent charter, there's no CMO mothership to provide administrative services from central office. Workplace culture is generally open - you can give feedback without fear of retribution (now, wasn't always the case), but often times decisions are made without seeking enough input. Thats leadership, i guess.
Overall i'd recommend it as a place to work. people tend to think the grass is greener somewhere else, but join the team and start watering lol
Coffee (bustelo!) is made every morning! a simple but fantastic gesture
leadership transition is hard anywhere, but its headed in the right direction
