Barista/Cashier in Appleton, WI

Working at Gloria Jean's was fun at first I loved the customers, making drinks, the other employees that I worked with; and the pay was decent and the tips were great!!! But, it came to my attention that the management was not all that great. The manager would often express irritation of other employees and customers and would even vocally talk infront of customers about how the she wished the customers would leave. Their were also many times when I would disagree with a topic and was in a way excluded/ostracized because I didn't agree with the manager and her beliefs and thoughts. Their was also special treatment for specific employees, and also racial microaggressions ( That happened to me personally) which was quite unfortunate. In the end I felt the manager wanted me to quit because she would purposely exclude me, make me feel bad for forgetting some things, or for how I would do a tasks. I did express in the interview I was a little bit slower but I felt the manager used this information I shared against me which honesty made her even more short with me. I do wish this job would of worked out. But, it didn't because I couldn't deny the fact that I was being treated not equally like the other employees/peers and I knew I had to go because I know my self worth and how people should be treated and this ain't it!

Everyone I worked with was nice and easy to get along with. Scheduling was also flexible. Busier hours could be a little stressful, but the job overall wasn't super stressful.

This is a nice place to work, but can become increasingly stressful when working by yourself which happened most of the days. For such a busy company there should definitely be more than one person working

It's all up to the individual Franchisee, but I worked for Gloria Jean's for several years. Love the product and the brand. Learned a lot about coffee and customer service. Great place

The owner of my store was amazing and cared about his employees. It was another employee that ultimately drove me to quit. Because of this employees horrible work ethic, I was working around the clock and it eventually burnt me out.
