Easy and fun work

Indeed Featured review

I loved my time with the company, it was a lot of fun the only drawback was working in the wee hours of the morning. The kids were so great. The pay was good compared to other online companies

Difficult Hours but fun

It was a fun job and fun meeting kids and families from China. The hours were too difficult for me to keep up with living in California. You need to work hours in China that are evening in China. The kids are in normal school during the day and then many of them have after-school activities. So the prime time to teach time in CA was 1:00 a.m.

ESL Teacher at GOGOKID

Working as an ESL Teacher at GOGOKID was a rewarding experience with good flexibility and competitive pay. However, inconsistent bookings and limited teaching materials were some of the occasional challenges.

Meaningful and special

Never a dull moment. You got to choose your schedule and availability, which is great but not guaranteed classes. It's a shame that it's no longer allowed to teach.

Fun while it lasted!

I enjoyed working here until about a year ago and everything shut down and the job was gone overnight. The lessons and materials they provided were wonderful and students were great!

Opportunities for advancement

Opportunities for growth in teaching as well as remote learning. Flexible schedule is an amazing attribute for single mothers. This company will work with you.

Flexible & Fun

Flexible hours and enjoyable to work with the children. Not much job security. You must have your own props. Work to get regular students and it will pay off

Flexible work from home

Good work from home job for SAHMs. Flexible, easy, minimal prep work. Need to be willing to work early hours. Not a good sick policy. Job shut down over night due to new laws.

Pros

Flexible

Cons

Early hours

ridiculous incentive standards

They don't care a bit about their teachers. No flexibility to call in sick without being penalized. Terrible hours as they are in China. The curriculum was good.

Great part-time work

GoGoKid was an overall amazing job to work if you enjoyed early morning hours. It was a grind, but the students could be fun. You worked hard during the classes. Gogokid had fair compensation.

Love the kids!

Loved working for this company! Wish it hadn’t been shutdown. The pay was great, but I don’t like working on Chinese time. It helps to have previous teaching experience.

Pros

Kids are great!

Cons

The company has closed.

With great freedom comes minimal job security

I worked about 25 hours a week and earned on average $21 per hour. Even part time, this income payed all of my bills. I would have continued to work at GOGOKID if they hadn't closed unexpectedly. The best part of the job was seeing the student progress.

Pros

flexible schedule, good pay, company culture

Cons

independent contractors have no rights

Nice Flexible Job

Pros: - This is a really FUN job, especially if you enjoy working with children! The kids are really kind, and excellent students. It's really rewarding to help them on their English journey. - You pick what days you work- Easy platform to navigate Cons: - Classroom material costs can add up. However, it's not a requirement to buy a bunch of props, puppets, toys, ect. I just found that these props help interact with the students.- Early hours depending on where you live

Flexible workplace

It is a flexible work place with decent pay per hour. The worst thing is not getting enough classes to support myself and pay the bills. A lot of teachers used to work for multiple companies to make ends meet.

Most kids are enjoyable...

The hours are terrible as you are teaching children mainly in China. Most of the kids are eager to learn and have great parents, but there are some who are in classes way to advanced for their abilities and the company will not move them to a more appropriate level, it is solely at the discretion of the parents. Your pay is also tied to how many stars the parents leave you and negative reviews or no reviews impact your bonus. The company doesn't take into account the parents that leave no reviews yet continue to book you for more classes.

Pros

you set your own schedule

Cons

early morning or overnight classes due to time difference.

Ok job

It’s online teaching for China (night job). Pays off only if you never sleep at night and have no days/nights off, no benefits, but you make your own schedule.

Pros

Own schedule

Cons

Sleep deprivation

Good virtual job, but company is okay

Gogokid, like all ESL companies provides flexibility in terms of location and scheduling on your own time. I started out in 2018 and they had reasonable requirements and standards for the rating / credit system . I loved connecting with the kids and being a part of their growth. However each year the company has become more and more micromanaging, and in many ways you feel uncomfortably scrutinized. It feels almost less about teaching and more about pleasing the parent and the company. I get it though, the parents are the paying customers. You are rated by the parent after each class and it feeds into the new complex credit system. Just know the pay incentive based on the credit system is not something to rely on (think of it as a bonus). In summary, it's now a customer service job.

Pros

Virtual, pay not bad, control your schedule, kids are great

Cons

Everything else
