Retail Store Associate in Bentonville, AR
on May 14, 2021
Management is impossible to please.
The work is defiantly challenging, I tracked my steps in a single eight hour shift and averaged about 20,000 steps. If your doing the grunt work make sure you wear a back brace. A couple different times the store was hopelessly understaffed and I had to lift 150 pounds plus by myself. Some store managers are great and pitch in to help. Others just slack off then look super busy and helpful when upper managment comes in. If lots of people donate at once it's easy to get overwhelmed, and corporate doesn't seem to want to do anything to help, but will be quick to get on your case if their terribly high standards start to slip.

This company is very supportive and wants its employees to succeed and grow. They invest in training and advancement opportunities for employees and live by what the company calls ACE culture. (Amazing Customer Experience)

Goodwill works hard to improve culture and provide opportunity for advancement to employees. Communication has vastly improved. We know the why and the how of our strategic plan. We are listening to and responding to our employees, our shoppers, donors, job seekers and employers. Our mission is changing lives through education, training and employment. We love #thepowerofwork!

There's a reason that Goodwill is constantly in the state of "urgently hiring". The store manager is unprofessional, rude to customers, and plays favorites with his employees. They treat their employees like the donated trash they sell to people. Employees are almost never treated like a priority. It seems like the managers want to help deal with customers as little as possible; they either hide in the back or goof off in the office the entire day. Employees are neither treated or paid what they deserve and their complaints are almost never listened to. Even key holders are getting sick of the bs whether they want to admit that or not. For the sake of your sanity, don't work here. Working at a thrift store is not as cool as it seems, ESPECIALLY f*cking Goodwill.

This place does not care about their employees! They don’t pay their employees a living wage. The management is a mess. Unorganized, rude, shady. The turn over rate is crazy but once you start working you understand why.
