I currently work for Goodwill-Suncoast and we do a local background and a national background. I’m not sure if other Goodwill’s do this also, as not all Goodwill’s are the same and they are not all connected together like so many people think. My Goodwill only has stores in Florida and our home office is located in Saint Petersburg. We have to do a national background because of our learning skills development program for persons with disabilities. By Florida laws, there are certain charges like anything to do with violence, any kind of sex charges, fraud and so on. Anyone with these types of charges cannot work in the same environment we have that program in, which is every store we have.

It depends on who you know. I have several felonies ranging from drug dealing to assault. I was able to get a job in the store when I came home from prison.
