Good pay, lots of hours, poor work/life balance

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Decent company to work for if you are ok with working all the time. 12 hour shifts, day/night rotation every 2 weeks. Most new hires work 7 days a week for an unknown amount of time. Pay is decent, workload can be a bit heavy at times but the environment is relaxed as long as you are on top of your job duties. Would not recommend if you are expecting a Mon-Fri 40hr week lifestyle. Average week is 56 hours minimum.

Good place to work

Not an easy job but it pays well. Would recommend to those who want to make a good and living. Good management but they do expect a lot from you. Not for lazy people

Good Job

It is a good job, good pay, plenty of over time. It can get stressful at times but all in all you can provide yourself a good life. Every job has its pros and cons.

Fast pace labor intensive

The pay Is low for type of work and responsibilities. 7 days a week and double shifts another employee don't show up. Be sure to bring extra meals. Can leave port. Can be very hard on your body. Management seem to have favorites.

What is the best part of working at the company?Such a difficult question to answer as every aspect of working there had issues with no help to address them. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Lack of training and just "thrown to the wolves" and expected to survive and be able to do the job. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Expected to work 12 hours a day seven days a week for months on end. Denied weekend off requests constantly due to staffing issues. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Jumping from one emergency to the next. What preventative maintenance that was done was minimal causing constant issues throughout the plant.

A stressful rollercoaster

The good? Decent pay rate and all the overtime you can work. The bad? Most of the leadership is either completely inept, inconceivably arrogant, terrible with employee relations, or even a combination of all three. A literal trifecta of failure that continues to drive away quality employees.Required 7 day work weeks. Days off are extremely rare, and when you do take a day, half the time they treat you like you are betraying the company.

Pays well. Double time Sundays.

Pays very well. You do not get days off. 21 days on. Mostly 12 hour shifts. Then 1... 2 days off if your lucky. Unless you want to work. And have no home life. Stay away. They don't care about employees at all. They will fire you for complaining about needing a day off.

Great work environment

I have only just hired on. So far I have enjoyed each day. I believe there are only 30 or so individuals at my location. I can appreciate the tight knit aspect of the day to day activities.

Terrible work life balance

Great place to work if you never want to go home. They'll work you seven days a week, every week. The company clearly doesn't value it's employees and will work you into the ground.

Pros

Free lunches, good pay

Cons

Everything else

Poor management, hostile work environment

The management is horrible. They don't care about you or your family. They are not loyal to their employees no matter how long you been there. it's a revolving door for the employees safety is not a priority. They talk a big talk but don't act on it when it comes to safety. You will work 7 days a week and they don't care for who knows how weeks straight. Benefits are not anything special. Rotating schedule.

Pros

Pay.

Cons

Management, hours, rotating schedule

Was ok

Company offered decent pay thanks to the union. Was a good place to work until sold a few years back, new owners were in way over their heads and decided it was better to close then to care.

Pros

Worked by yourself

Cons

New owners and job security

The longest hours of your life

I worked at the Portland location for just over two weeks. If I had been given just 40 hours a week I'd still be there, but bc the job is just so overwhelmingly physical and demanding...I couldn't do 55 hours+ of hard labor a week. Not without time off to decompress.I made enough in two weeks to pay my bills for a couple months, so I'm honestly pretty neutral about the whole experience, but I wouldn't go back unless I was guaranteed weekends off. What's the point of making mad stacks when you can't enjoy it?

Pros

The pay is GREAT, all the hours you can eat, double time on sundays

Cons

Mandatory overtime, no guaranteed days off, 7 day weeks, very physical

Good job with good benefits!

This is a great place to work if you want to find the perfect career to retire with. They have plenty of hours (job security), and great benefits for you and your family. Very low turn over at the Kansas City location, which tells you that people stay and enjoy working here.

Pros

Overtime, benefits

Cons

Open to work weekends, if needed

Great crew and management and amazing pay

I’ve only been here for a week but this place seems like somewhere I’ll be for years. If you can work alone and with little direction from supervisors it’s a great place to work. You can go as you please as long as your work is done. Long hours are expected after your first few weeks. 10-12 hour days 6-7 days a week.

Pros

Good pay, great management, good benefits, best company to work for in Pendleton.

Cons

Long hours and you’re working alone most of the time so new people might feel lost.

Good pay

This is a good job, but can be very physical at times. Employees and management usually get along well. Additional work hours are paid at 1.5 x hourly rate and are available almost every week.

Pros

Time and 1/2 available, good pay

Cons

Long hours, overtime required some weeks

Great culture and company

I worked for Grain Craft for 1.5 years. Phenomenal company. They have a great culture that starts at the top. They had to shut down my facility due to circumstances out of their control and took care of the employees the best possible.

Pros

Culture, Great pay, Willing to allow employee to grow

Cons

Benefits could be improved

Worst management

The supervisor of the wearhouse has poor work ethic and is very hypocritical to his own high standards. I started as a car cleaner at this job and shortly found out the trending theme. You are expected to be at work 7 days a week at 7:00 am on the dot for a minimum of 10 hours. Your work does not go noticed. Even being one minute late can result in termination. Don’t expect any days off because you won’t get them even if you ask off months in advance. You often stay later than you are supposed to. The supervisor will ask you to do tasks outside of your job requirements even though they might not be in the job description. Funny enough the supervisor wasn’t satisfied with my work so he hired a guy to replace me and have me train him without me knowing I was being laid off. It’s okay though the guy quit a week later anyway because he found out how terrible the supervisor was. Also don’t mess up, you’ll be publicly outed in front of the whole staff for a mistake and embarrassed. The turnover is high in the wearhouse for increasingly obvious reasons. The supervisor has a terrible way of managing his employees and operations. The pay is good, but not worth not having a life. I cannot express the shadiness of this job. If you get a job there you better pray it’s not in the warehouse.
