Tough atmosphere to work in
Executive Assistant (Former Employee) - Vienna, VA - December 9, 2013
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedA lot of competition between accountants, but I guess that is what gets you the partnership in the end.

Everything that is wrong about public accounting
Tax Manager (Former Employee) - Chicago, IL - August 7, 2023
Awful place to work, caused by tax leadership at the time. Pitted everyone against each other - no teamwork, no incentive to help each other out. There are better firms.

Amazing managers
Advisory Consultant (Former Employee) - Arlington, VA - August 7, 2023
Working at GT was like any other large organization. However, the benefits are one of the best in the industry with upto 3 months paid maternity leave and the work life balance was good. Not so much focus on utilization as other companies do. There was plenty of flexibility.

Not much more to say
Senior Associate (Former Employee) - Los Angeles, CA - July 29, 2023
Working here provides a flexible schedule that can fit around your lifestyle, alongside a team of truly nice, supportive people. You will be exposed to a variety of tasks and assignments, keeping the job interesting and engaging. The pay is fair and reasonable, reflecting the value of your work. However, the one downside is the lack of job stability, which might be a consideration for some.

Terrible
Senior Associate (Current Employee) - Dallas, TX - July 26, 2023
Horrible company to work for. They don’t know how to treat their employees and overall I had an awful experience working at the firm. Poor leadership in the firm.

Mixed Feelings
Valuation & Modeling Associate (Former Employee) - San Francisco, CA - July 18, 2023
Felt like they didn't have a set plan for me as a new hire. My partner and manager left after only a few weeks on the job and didn't feel like I fit in with the any team during the rest of my time. That being said the managers and partners I did work for were nice.

Great Culture but busy season is tough
Management really does empower you to take control of your career and pursue your interest. They invest heavily in people and culture, but busy season can be a lot of strain.

Mid-market focus with deep impact
Experienced Manager (Current Employee) - Southfield, MI - June 26, 2023
Loving my time at GT as a manager in the Advisory group. Surrounded by very intelligent people who are really client centered. Very entrepreneurial place - you decide your own level of engagement. GT’s sweet spot is mid-market companies. This means that your work has actual meaningful impact across our clients.

Toxic
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - New York, NY - June 4, 2023
Worse professional experience. Leadership was clueless and drank the GT kool aid. Change of direction was a common occurrence. Blindsided people who thought they were doing a good job/meeting expectations with horrible reviews. People were quitting at record pace and instead of looking in the mirror and evaluate why this was happening, the attitude was good riddance. And even more disturbing was that people not replaced so those still there were picking up the slack and working at unsustainable pace/hours.

Unorganized. No leadership.
Tax Staff Member (Former Employee) - San Juan, PR - May 11, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The learning experience. Even when seniors dont show motivation when explaining or teaching, you'll get to know different dynamics and functionalities about taxes. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Seniors and other superiors doesnt seem to care about your experience as a staff member. They lack of time, they are always reunited and can treat you like you are the one to blame. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Is a very individualistic work environment. Every man for himself. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Most of the days I was waiting for instructions from my senior, who seemed more concerned about getting a promotion inside the firm. When finally he had time for me, he lacked of patience.

Great environment, talented people. Top company
Sr. Associate, Corporate Innovation (Former Employee) - Boston, MA - May 10, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The resources available to employees for success. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Changing deadlines but they were manageable. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very high-touch and professional. "Big 4" yet not stodgy. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Each day was different but usually included many meetings and work time. Travel is frequent. Long days but not always .

Good place to work

Good management and reasonable pay. The work environment was good and before we went remote the office was really quality. Would recommend.

Same workload, less resources than B4
Tax Manager (Former Employee) - Philadelphia, PA - April 23, 2023
Felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day to provide the quality level of work product I’d feel comfortable delivering. Lots of pressure for staff output-as a middle manager, I ultimately couldn’t stay in the role and continue to ask staff to meet the expectations I was being asked to achieve.

Grant Thornton was one of the best I ever worked for.
Senior Associate (Former Employee) - Arlington, VA - April 20, 2023
As I started as a Business Intelligence Analyst, GT provided the best atmosphere possible to accommodate my professional needs. GT believes a person should be the "Champion" of their career, and they sure showed this benefit to me while I was employed. Unfortunately, an entire sector was acquired by Guidehouse.
Pros
People can be the champion of their career in GT.
Cons
None that I can think of.
