Custom Masonry Walkway & Gravel Driveway

Green Jay Landscaping was hired in Hastings, NY to reconstruct a gravel driveway and parking area that had existing drainage problems and issues with the gravel migrating out of place. GJL also reconstructed the walkway, steps and landing to the front door, creating a custom masonry focal point. The client was thrilled to see the "square in a circle" landing that reminded her of a Chinese coin!

  • Visitor!!! Very pleased to see this Praying Mantis at our latest Port Chester install!
🦗
Why??? Mantis are one of the best natural predators for garden pest insects! Their diet includes:
•aphids
•leafhoppers
•mosquitos
•caterpillars
•beetles
•grasshoppers
•crickets
In fact, a simple google search will show you the market for mantis — their egg cases are sold to gardeners as a natural & organic pesticide. Chemical pesticide options cost thousands more and, as we know, cause a ripple of ecological consequences.
🦗
If you see Praying Mantis in your garden, rejoice!! Your property is a healthy ecosystem. #greenjaylandscaping #wheredesignmeetsecology #landscapesforbetterliving

  • After shots of this front yard MAKEOVER in Port Chester This property is both a home and business, so attractive *wow* factor curb appeal was a must.
(⏩ swipe for deets & before!)
✨Working within the existing site conditions, we designed a half shade / half sun 🐝🦋🐛perennial garden, blending Eastern influences with a modern perennial / ornamental grass style.
✨Repurposed stone set in gravel paths guides you through the garden and major circulation points.
✨Client is thrilled, and needless to say does not miss that static patch of lawn one bit! 🦋🌿💚

This is such a special project for Green Jay - we couldn’t think of a better fit for us than designing a bird sanctuary! This project has all the elements of habitat building, starting with pollinator plants to attract butterflies/moths that form the basis of the bird food chain (caterpillars!). Native perennials and shrubs support birds throughout the seasons with seed heads and berries. Larger trees and shrubs create fringe and scrub-shrub environments. And of course water is an all-important habitat element! 💦 Stay tuned for more info on this incredible project & opportunity. #greenjaylandscaping #wheredesignmeetsecology #birdsanctuary
