bad management, HR is a joke nothing but petty drama i feel like im in high school half the time, no one wants to work or do anything pertaining to their job. my boss has no people skills she cant even talk to people with out screaming, imagine being so sick that you cant move and you scared to call your boss because she takes everything as a personally attack thats what my experience at griffin has been like.

Patient Care Assistant (Current Employee) –  Norman, OKFebruary 28, 2019
It’s a decent place. The staff and patients are pretty great. Some of the nurses and higher ups, aren’t so great. Lots of overtime, but they’ll try and force you into staying because of staffing issues.
Pros
Good benefits, overtime, pay

Dead End Job
Security Guard (Current Employee) –  Derby, CTFebruary 6, 2019
Griffin Security Department expects the world from you while giving you low pay and little to no room for advancement. You get a 30 min lunch that can be interrupted if you get a call but they still take the time out of your check. As of recent, you go from post to post and the manager will talk to you if you leave the post for a second without relief. As a security guard you will do all sorts of jobs that don’t fall under your scope i.e. transport patient, vallet cars, even answer phones at telecom for the main hospital line. The pay is also terrible. If you don’t have a companion that makes decent money, don’t consider. Although, the benefits are really good and the community is kind for the most part. But be prepared to get calls all crazy hours asking you to come in if you join the security team. Also, being a “planetree” hospital means any security tactics are out the window. They’re all about “the patient is always right”. Even when they swing at you or bite you. Enjoy your new job at Griffin Hospital 😁
Pros

No room for advancement, poor management

Excellent benefits for employees and their families at a fair price as long as you use Griffin Hospital. The pay however is not compatible with living in CT.

poor staff relationships
pay is only just recently competative with other hospitals.

lots of management staff.
when concerns are raised to direct management, no real action is taken, they have a system for reporting problems called rls and instead of communicating with each other they write you up for everything.
lots of call outs with no repercussions.

Attending Physician (Former Employee) –  CTAugust 18, 2018
Physicians are the low man on the totem pole in this organization whose mission is to be "Planetree" for everyone but it's providers. Money is the driving force in this organization, and the turnover in it's staff is testament to it.

Guest Relations Associate (Current Employee) –  Derby, CTApril 23, 2018
A typical day at work is greeting patients and family members as well as directing individuals to registration. The workplace culture is very positive as staff and management are very friendly. The most enjoyable part of the job is talking with patients and families daily. The hardest part of the job is greeting families that are seeing patients that are really sick or terminal.
Pros
Friendly work environment where all staff and management are willing to help
Cons
Slow-paced environment
