Startup with lots of control, but unconventional rewards
SENIOR UX DESIGNER (Former Employee) – Atlanta, GA – April 14, 2016
I worked at GROUNDFLOOR Finance full-time for more than a year.
Small, good team of highly motivated professionals. Lots of opportunity to put your stamp on a market that is industry-disruptive and has a good chance of being a real, viable alternative to Wall Street investing and banks. Very challenging (in a good way) in terms of expected output, contributed results and measurable improvements. Unlimited time off for vacation and sick leave - whenever you need it you can take it. High accountability and control over your work.
As with any high-energy startup there is some ego involved and there are early signs of large organization mentality (corporate games, hiding true intentions for fear of retribution, lack of guidance, etc.), but these are minimal at best due to the small number of people involved. Pay is low, but is compensated with stock options, but these go into effect late (after a year) and accumulate slowly. Don't expect raises…
Personal direction, unlimited paid time off, stock options
No benefits, management control issues, low pay
