Caregiver in Millstadt, IL

I worked as a caregiver. Your jobs and hours are determined by the patient you are assigned to, meaning difficulty varies a lot. Some days all I did was cook and talk with the patient, others they had me doing yard work and laundry. It's not terribly difficult but the pay could have still been better. It was emotionally taxing more than anything else but that may have just been the patient I had.

The idea behind the company is wonderful however you will be worked hard with little to no respect or appreciation from management. Quarterly bonuses are nice but if you desire to be acknowledged for your hard work in any other way that will not happen. Management/Executive team has grown significantly in the last 18 months and it shows, not in productivity or efficiency but in hierarchy. GT’s motto is “Your life, your choice” which if they did believe that for their employees would be great but if you work for GT Independence be prepared to be expected to not believe anything other than what GT allows you to believe unless you are in private at home. Do not expect that they will treat everyone fairly because their inclusive lifestyle does not include religion. Spending at this company is outrageous and ridiculous but don’t expect them to limit their ridiculous spending to trickle some to their workers. You will get a $30 a month stipend for working at home but will get laughed at if asking for that to be more considering how much internet and electricity costs. Good luck if you work at GT, and watch your can’t trust anyone.

I worked for a different agency at the beginning of my journey and did not get paid what I deserve for the work I do & I found out about GT applied and got hired now I get the pay I deserve , I work long hours due to my client needing those hours but I love my job and working for this company. They definitely pay a fair rate and I am thankful for that.

Becoming a caregiver is a job you have to be prepared for.. I personally went through a certain level of rudeness by the individual I was caring for who did not want me.. Company was decent, but the individual I was assigned to was so much.

No matter how much work you did you were criticized for everything. Manager did not help out when staff was out ill making services to clients a last priority.
