12 hour rotating shift with mandated overtime
Production Worker (Former Employee) – Geneva, NY – July 10, 2013
12 hour shifts working a swing shift rotating days to nights monthly running 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on 2 days, off then 3 days off and repeat...intensive manual labor for 12 hours straight manual packing glass, they're not very forgiving if something fouls up. Benefits are below good, the 401k plan is ok, the overtime is awful, some weeks you work 7 days straight working 12 hours a day and you'll be manually packing glass for those 12 hours. breaks are not good either, 3, 20 minute breaks a day. the air quality doesnt seem to be good, you shovel glass dust (silica) which causes silicosis (cancer) with no protection. You might get lucky and have a dust mask.
job security, glass will always be needed
short breaks, insurance sub par, extremely hot in the summer time, bad air quality, bad attitudes, extensive manual labor, etc, standing for 12 on concrete( never aloud to sit)
