Bad managment and owners
CNC operator (Current Employee) –  Carleton, MIJune 19, 2019
Little to no breaks for a 12 hour day, left on the line constantly with no relief.
Poor guidance and management, company will do anything to not give raises. Shifts are forever changing.
Pros
Paid lunch, close to home

Production Worker (Current Employee) –  DeWitt, IAApril 29, 2019
Would be a job you could retire at if the owners (the koch brothers) weren’t so greedy. You work harder and way more overtime while being paid way less compared to other local manufacturers. You don’t have mauve home life working here. Up the pay and cut some overtime and it’ll be a great place to work.
Pros
decent benefits
Cons
Underpaid especially compared to other local manufacturers

High turnover though good pay proves there is problems
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  DeWitt, IAApril 9, 2019
The location in Dewitt has a 1.2 on glassdoor for a reason. Besides the heat the job isn't too hard. It is how they treat people that gives them over a 50% turnover rate. Be prepared to run short frequently, work 4 required overtime days a month and be blamed for normal human errors. Constantly losing long time employees and struggling to keep new ones. The company has changed 3 years after Koch industries bought them. Management is untrustworthy and supervisors last about two years. Most supervisors and managers are from the outside so if advancement is what you are looking for you won't find much here. No collaboration and safety is important unless...

Shift Manager (Current Employee) –  Corsicana, TXMarch 14, 2019
Management encourages independent decisions at the organizational level, where decisions have
favorably impacted company success. The hardest part of the job is the rotating shift. Currently desiring a position where I would work one designated shift.
Pros
Great workforce, salary and benefits
Cons
Rotating shifts

This job is for those that need to make more than a 40 hour paycheck.
Packer and Skill position operator (Current Employee) –  Carleton, MIMarch 13, 2019
On the surface the rotating schedule, 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, repeat. Seems pretty good. But then you add in mandatory OT and you seldom ever have a whole weekend off. There is no work / life balance. This job is built for people that cannot live on a 40 hour weekly paycheck. Lots of OT available and good health benefits. Pays the bills but your kids will never see you.
Pros
OT and good health benefits
Cons
Poor work/life balance. Petty management. No paid sick days and if you do call off, it is held against you.

TOXIC and a nightmare, culture will cause HEALTH concerns.
Shift Manager (Former Employee) –  DeWitt, IAMarch 3, 2019
The work environment and culture will cause you health problems! Very TOXIC! Very poor upper management replacing seasoned leaders with college graduates that got their experience from how to manage from the book for dummies from Barnes and Noble. Accountability is pushed down to lower level managers and supervisors turnover is over 100% they literally turned over a whole workforce in 1 year. It’s a revolving door. I have hired and seen 3 supervisors that only worked for less than a month in the last 6 months due to the culture. MBM is a laughing stock among the hourly and don’t buy into any of it the Koch culture turned a decent company into a nightmare a place where you fear to loose your job or livelihood. If you value your health and peace of mind don’t even bother to read their job ad.

Typical factory job. You work on a line packaging glass. Your shifts are 12 hours long. There is overtime available once you are sufficiently trained.

Good place to work, but the schedule is terrible.
Regular Employee (Current Employee) –  Carleton, MIOctober 21, 2018
Is good place to work, but the schedule is terrible. The schedule changes every two weeks with mandatory overtime, and the mandatory overtime schedule changes every week. That means you won't have a life but working. No time for school or sometimes you will have to change your doctor appointment.....etc more often.
Pros
Nice people to work with
Cons
Schedule is terrible

Guardian Glass Industry is a stable company to work for. They offer good benefits. They are a company that has been around for years and will probably be around a long time.

Not a good place to work if you want to feel satisfied with your job.
Final Line Assembler (Current Employee) –  Upper Sandusky, OhioOctober 9, 2018
The plant is very disorganized, and although the work isn’t difficult, it can be very hectic and stressful. The starting pay is decent ($14.05 plus shift differential) but they don’t give substantial raises, and are dishonest about how you move up the pay scale.
Pros
Weekends off, free fruit every week, ice cream machines
Cons
Short breaks, favoritism, no one is held accountable for their actions

G-9 Technician (Current Employee) –  Corsicana, TXOctober 8, 2018
Guardian is a stressful place to work. The pay is not great, unless you don't mind killing yourself working overtime. The management is HORRIBLE. The labor workers are unappreciated.

Its hard work.
Production Worker (Former Employee) –  Corsicana, TXAugust 23, 2018
Its hard work but the pay is worth it, you'll always have money to support yourself as well as your family.
The rotating shift between nights and days can take a toll on you but if you last long enough you can find ways to get use to it.
Pros
The pay is great
Cons
It can get repetitive and tiring

Just a stepping stone job
Production Operator (Former Employee) –  De Witt, IAAugust 1, 2018
Rotating 12 hour shifts 6am to 6pm one week than 6pm to 6am the next week. Hours will mess with your sleep. Job was not hard to do but yet hard to stay motivated with better options out there. I recently had a meeting with HR asking why people are leaving the company. I told them two things. 1 because of the working hours and 2 the pay. I was told than that they are competitive for the area. Nothing around but a gas staion and minimum wage jobs. I told her Guardian will be competitive when their pay matches up with other places like 3M, Nesle Purina, Arconic, Lyondellbassell. These are the same companies members are leaving Guardian for and you are starting at 20 plus for most of them.
Pros
Free lunch ocassionally
Cons
Don't want to pay you like some of the other top companies do.
