It was a very easy laid back interview with the store manager and another associate. I discussed why I wasted to work there (part-time) and my future goals which flowed into me talking about my music knowledge. It is also retail so I also gave examples and talked about customer service and sales. I did tell them I was aware of the "bad rap" that guitar center has but that I had always had a positive experience as a customer in their store. The manager was well aware of the reputation and explained how he wanted the store and company presented to customers.
I applied on line, got a call the next day to set up an interview for tomorrow, interviewed -about 35 minutes and was called an hour later with an offer.
It was great. I was interviewed by professional and talented musicians. We had a chance to discuss the expectations of the job and a I had a very good overall understanding of the environment and opportunities.

The interview process is incredibly easy. They have essentially already hired you before interviewing you. Answer the employer's questions, smile a lot, and enjoy the conversation. Guitar Center is known for its laid-back environment so employers enjoy an easy-going person.

It was simple. I came in, answered a few questions, and was hired on the spot. Most of the question were related to how you would go about increasing the amount of spending a customer would do.
