Patient Care Technician (Former Employee) –  Hackensack, NJSeptember 16, 2018
One of my most rewarding company to work for. A typical day was looking forward to waking up in the morning to get the day started. New challenges occurred daily in patient care settings, which was educational and rewarding at the same time. Management and workplace culture was appreciated. As always the hardest part for me was losing a patient especially after caring for one so long, but I definitely enjoyed caring and making a difference in their life during their difficult time of need, Knowing that I've helped someone and putting a smile on their face was very rewarding for me. It was my way of giving back.

Developmental Intern (Current Employee) –  Lodi, NJOctober 4, 2018
The establishment has good benefits, and opportunity for continuing education, as well as 401k pensions, and other benefit opportunities. They host continuous learning classes, as well as provide a vast work place culture. Recently, the establishment has turned into a conglomerate, which has made the hiring, and transfer process very slow and painful.

Not a fair place to work
Medical Secretary (Current Employee) –  Hackensack, NJJanuary 3, 2019
In the earlier days it was a great place to work, but as time went on and it got so big, it was all about growth and not the employees. The hospital would assist in paying for you to go to school, but it was hard to be promoted in the area that you went to school for. If you know the right people or persons you could go far, if not you stayed where you were.
Pros
Medical benifits

Good place to get experience
Staff Nurse, RN (Current Employee) –  Hackensack, NJJanuary 19, 2019
It provides good exposure clinically. However, I find that once nurses get their experience of 1 - 3 years, they are out the door. It used to be a place that clinical staff would spend their whole career. Now it is a business, as is the trend with most large network hospitals. The environment is quick-paced and stressful. I stay because of my wonderful colleagues and sense of teamwork.

OPERATIONS MANAGER (Current Employee) –  Hackensack, NJApril 19, 2018
A challenging and stimulating environment, though there set routines of service to be provided, each day brings a new challenge task to exceed.

Managing a strong dedicated group of team leaders and team members achieving a common goal of providing excellent service.

Learning, every day provides a new adventure, task to achieve, never boring.

Workplace culture, a very competitive but a team unity to exceed as a team, there is no "I" in team.

Hardest part of the job, sometimes it can be frustrating not having enough hours in the day to achieve your goal.

Enjoyment, coaching and teaching on all levels front line staff and management.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Can at times be too forgiven pertaining to accountability for poor work performance.

good pay but no voice for nurses
RN, BSN (Current Employee) –  Hackensack, NJNovember 1, 2018
HUMC historically was a great place to work. since they started buying out hospitals and such it has become a hard place to work, focusing more in money than people. There is no voice for the nurses, the management is sub-par, and nurses are often told to leave if the changes are not liked. This is sad because without nurses a hospital would crumble.
Pros
good pay
Cons
no voice, short staffing, no breaks

I only worked part time 16 hours every other week, but this was one of the best, most well organized places to work! Many people who work there have been working there for years because the management and staff are so amazing!
