Super fun, Super chill
Summer help (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHJuly 29, 2018
The Hamilton County Sign Shop was one of the most fun places to work at. And incredibly relaxed work environment and great people to work with. Every morning you’d start by getting a list of what needs to be done by your group leader. And if it was a rainy day you pair up and get more a defined list of goals such as “stop sign down on 1st street needs to me replaced.” And then you grabbed the trucks, fueled up and headed out. You were paired up by the foreman who picked people that worked best together. You would come back at the end of your 8 hours and if you had a goofy story like someone putting a sign up, upside down or something you would share it. But all in all it was an excellent place to work.
Pros
Long breaks, no deadlines, great coworkers
Cons
Trucks were a little old, tools weren’t the newest or easiest to use

The Worst Popularity Contest Ever
(potential employee) (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHNovember 26, 2017
Unfair competition: many applications for very few jobs. Younger, faster, prettier wins out over experienced, reliable, professional, at the expense of the public trust.

MANAGEMENT SALARY INCREASES,Workforce, scrutiny increases, no raise 10 years
HVAC Technician (Former Employee) –  Paul Brown Stadium, OHAugust 5, 2017
If not in management, or union, you are oversrutinized, and under paid.Bogus yearly evaluation, no chance of raise only budget increases go to management, and their consultants, who continually create more problems
Pros
benefits
Cons
bogus h.r., budget balanced, on low bid substandard work., by contractors, and consultants. employees scrutinized, while dealing with dangerous working conditions, management ignored

Extremely high caseloads.
Children Service Caseworker (Current Employee) –  Hamilton County, OHApril 10, 2017
The workload is extremely high making it almost impossible to effectively manage your families and ensure that the children that we serve are safe. Caseloads are between 40-60 and should be 15-20. Culture differences make it hard for workers and supervisors to serve the families. No support from Section Chiefs and horrible supervisors. Hamilton County Children Services need a complete overhaul. STAY AWAY!
Pros
Not a typical desk job.
Cons
Long work hours, inconsistent supervisors, no workplace balance

Juvenile Corrections and Clerks Office
Juvenile Correctional Officer/Deputy Clerk (Former Employee) –  2020 Auburn AveAugust 24, 2016
Juvenile Court Detention Center learned allot in this position . But if you are in your 1 year probation period they will get rid of you for any reason even if something happens that was not in your control . They are always understaffed they want you to work 16 hour shifts continuasly . No room for advancement no moral at all and no appreciation for the staff dedication . Not a good place to work at all .

Great stepping stone
Juvenile Correctional Officer (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHApril 23, 2016
Good resume builder and great for those pursuing a career in criminal justice. Administration is totally out of touch with rest of the staff, terrible moral in the building...overtime is almost always available which is a good thing, because without the overtime the pay it is not worth it. Led to believe administration has your back, but in actuality all they do is look at cameras all day nit picking on how you can do your job better, not how they can HELP you do better. No room for advancement because everyone with the best schedule and best pay are not leaving for at least another 10 years.
Pros
Overtime. Looks good on resume
Cons
Pay. Schedule. Management

Entry level, No room for advancement
Juvenile Correctional Officer (Former Employee) –  Hamilton County OhioMarch 16, 2016
I worked at the youth center and I learned that administration is disconnected with the staff. Worst part is the low pay. You are hired for 2nd shift and you will not get off that shift unless you have been here for 20 years or longer. if you have your degree you only get a few cents more an hour. There is no room for advancement, even though you are led to believe there is. Terrible moral in the building allso. Good job as a stepping stone.
Pros
Cheap healthcare
Cons
Low pay, no room for advancement

kind of depressing, met some interesting kids
Juvenile Correctional Officer (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHMarch 2, 2016
Worked in juvenile corrections, hated having to work every weekend and holiday, the pay really isn't worth it. Other counties make more and aren't even allowed to be hands on with the kids they have to give verbal commands unlike at the youth center where you have you use non lethal holds
Pros
experience, helping some youth
Cons
Pay, schedule

Don't work in Child Support!
Child Support (Current Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHNovember 20, 2015
JFS is a horrible place to work. Management does not have the integrity and knowledge to be effective. There is a lot of lying, covering up, clocking out to go fight and bullying going on. There's been high turn over here once again. People are leaving left and right. Only work here if you enjoy a ghetto yet political, toxic and hostile work environment.
Pros
Don't work here!
Cons
It's not worth it! Keep looking, you deserve better!
