Worst job I’ve ever had

STAY AWAY!! This is an awful place to work for so many reasons. Hotel management is terrible to say the least, run down building, terrible environment. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy

Pros

Pay is ok

Poor management

I was hired as an executive chef in Jackson NH. The kitchen was in disrepair, no one wanted to work there so it was difficult to find staff. The GM was old school in the wrong way as a manager, there was nepotism in management. Because I am a professional of 35 years with an impeccable resume, I came into this position to make the changes I was told by Haycreek needed to be done, instead I was railroaded out of my position by the in house management and Haycreek remained silent without investigating the matter. As a professional chef and currently a corporate chef I can say without a doubt that this company is the worst organization I ever had the displeasure of working for. STAY AWAY!

Falling apart

I worked there for over a year and steadily watched it decline over time. I enjoyed my position as a server at first and actually for a long time, however the general manager is never in the building and could care less about how things are falling apart. Have gone through 3 chefs in the past 6 months. The new F&B manager is constantly out. Very sad to see the drastic decline. I finally had enough and got done. Won't be around for much longer I suspect at the rate it is falling apart.

productive and fun workplace

Working at Hay Creek hotels has been a breath of fresh air. The team is supportive and always willing to jump in where needed. Upper management listens and provides constructive feedback without micromanagement. I appreciate the trust in my work and the personal balance HCH provides so I can always be a parent first. I look forward to spending and growing my career with Hay Creek.

Pros

Remote work, balance

Cons

work load can be tough but we are working through the growing pains

A great place to continue, or to begin, your hospitality career.

In a short time, I have experienced support in my learning from all levels of management within the company. There are a lot of policies that are specific to the corporation, which offers protection and teamwork from the corporate office to assist in more challenging or delicate situations when they arise. Having said that, the individual inn has a core group of tight knit staff and the overall feeling at work is cheerful. I would recommend anyone wishing to explore hospitality give us a try.

Pros

Small, friendly team, free lunch and understanding managers when it comes to balancing your personal life with your work.

Cons

When you are short staffed, it is all hands on deck. If you are not a team player, having to occasionally work outside of your department could be a con.

Team Work

I have worked for the company before, at a different property, and now back in the fold. I enjoy working for this company and feel like the upper management is there for us, if you need anything you just have to ask. Proactivity is important and on site management team all works as a team.

Horrible, Horrible Internship Experience

It was awful. Between hotels closing and hotels opening, the company's management could not keep up/ didn't care enough to keep up with how much help the housekeepers needed. I can tell why multiple former managers of mine have since left the company.

Hi Anonymous, Although we appreciate your feedback, we no longer manage 907 Main Hotel or The Dial Restaurant. While HCH managed this location during pre-opening, there was no management turnover in the housekeeping department. We encourage you to discover other HCH managed properties within our portfolio in the future. Best, Hay Creek Hotels

Fresh Approach to Hospitality, Excellent Company

Hay Creek Hotels is a management company, that practices what they preach. Undoubtably, hospitality is at the forefront of importance for serving both their guests and associates. They unwaveringly support every associate at their properties, embrace you for who you are, and always make you feel appreciated.

Manager was a mess over all

I loved the job got along w everyone. We worked as a team, totally enjoyed working with guest and Public. Never missed anytime but the management at this site were a total mess and they decided to cut me at my 90 days because of financial reasons. Shortly after the front desk manager was also let go and the General Manager fired. Sad because I truly enjoyed this place and never saw this coming.

Pros

Working w the hotel guest

Cons

Management was off

COVID-19 has certainly created some stressful financial situations for the entire hospitality industry. To clarify, the FOM and GM left on their own accord for personal career growth reasons, they were not let go due to COVID-19 challenges or fired. and both worked out an extended notice prior to departing.

Excellent workplace culture and an emphasis on guest satisfaction

907 Main is a great place to work. It has an excellent workplace culture and definitely emphasized on guest satisfaction which is key in the any industry, specifically the hospitality industry. The ownership and management company are both fantastic and really care about the employees.

Not a bad place...

A decent place to work for if you do what and when they want...until a life complication happens, then they screw you over! No possibility for advancement. When trying to learn and ask questions as to why rules are the way they are, you get a cranky/angry respone... 'that's just the way it is!'

Not a fun place

Although the Hotel was nice to work at the management was very unsupportive to the staff and had it's own special people that they gave special treatment

Great New Hotel and Restaurant Opportunity

New 67 room hotel and restaurant opening in Central Square near Kendall Square in Cambridge. Funky and vibrant restaurant, rooftop bar, outdoor seating. Very excited to see this project completed. Hay Creek Hotels is the management group - they focus on boutique independent hotels and restaurants. Good perks and good growth potential.

Front Desk

Management is very shallow and cut throat. My car broke down on my way to work (first time ever having to call out) called immediately to let them know the situation and was immediately fired for "not giving a two hour notice" something that obviously I could not do. I called HR and plead my case but to no avail. Stay packages are deceiving and way overpriced. Gossipy work environment never felt comfortable The front desk manager seems to think she owns the hotel

Good Opportunity

I worked here over the summer and it was definitely busy, but this is Wolfeboro and it is a summer resort. This is great if you want to make good money. Yes, it can be stressful but the payoff is Worth a couple of crazy days. Management is good and flexible and they try to schedule you so you can have a life outside of work. If you are willing to actually work and not complain about it, this is a great place with opportunity to advance if you want to. I will be back next summer for sure.

Pros

Free lunch, food and lodging discounts, flexible hours, experienced management

Cons

Busy, guests can be rude

Absolutely awful.

Hotel is pretty, has potential but can definitely see why they cannot keep help. Laundry room is a disaster, management is a joke. Got one day of training, was just then thrown into the mess of an unorganized business. Management praises helping when needed but was watched and left to struggle and dismissed when asking questions, co-workers are unreliable, rude and not trained correctly therefore things are not getting done right. Workload for one person is overwhelming and chaotic, really just nearly impossible. Unpaid 20 minute lunch but cannot leave property, lunch is provided yes, but no menu to go off of for staff so its really just a 50/50 if you’ll even eat that day. Overall demeanor is just chilling. Very little communication among all staff members and when the day is coming to a close, you think you did well despite not having the supplies, linen, and the help you need you get questioned and scolded as to why more isnt being produced. News flash housekeeping is impossible with no full time employees and or laundry person. Was not thrilled being invited upon a sinking ship per say, but empty promises did not end there. They paint pictures of this glorious wonderful job with a hardworking team, yet when asked for help teamwork does not actually exsist.

Pros

Elevators, carts

Cons

Just about everything else

Horrible place to work

Very stressful place to work the llist you receive each day is way to long for one person to complete, they don’t have enough linen or a laundry person to keep up with the linen they are short staffed and all management cares about is selling rooms not leaving any dirty. All in all very overwhelming.

Pros

Lunch provided, discounts on other hotels

Cons

Everything else

No teamwork, complaints go unresolved, low pay with no benefits, rude behavior and workload overwhelming

See above , the list is endless,no one cares how much work you have to do,just get it done,no help, skeleton crew, rude management,no benefits, low pay ,running out of supplies, staff is negative because of this place, gets fed up,can't take anymore abuse and looks elsewhere for employment , anywhere but there!

Pros

1/2 off meals and good overnight rate for other hotels owned by company

Cons

Short breaks if any besides lunch, drowning in workload always, cant keep good help

Fine if you like phonies and drug addicts

They act like they like you until they don't need to use you for anything else. Common jerks. Some fellow employees are nice but 95 percent of them are sucking up to the general manager even though they all talk about him/her.

Pros

Free food

Cons

Management is fake and use people howrver they can

Not a very good place to work

This place was one of the worst jobs I have ever had. Work was boring and to boring. Management was lackluster and did not care about the employees at all. Pretty bad and cutthroat culture. If you were not part of the owners wife family you would get the worst shifts or even got let go so they could get better shifts. The hardest part of this job was going to work. The job was boring and they did not stimulate learning by the staff. Meet some good people, but not much about this job was enjoyable
