Fun staff, poor pay

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
They take higher margins from HCP contracts for themselves yet can’t pay their recruiters a livable wage. The staff however is great to work with and lots to learn about sales.

Training Is Pointless

The people they have leading the training program dont know what they are doing. So you come out of training not prepared for your actual job if you even make it out of training. They want you to work nights weekends pretty much every day to meet their unachievable goals. They have this scoring chart that can make raises and working from home an option but it’s so not possible for newer people to meet these things so a lot of us are getting discouraged. It takes really really really long time to make commission and the base salary sucks. Most newer recruiters have to work multiple jobs in addition to this one to just make ends meet which doesn’t work when the company wants u to work 24/7. This company is not at all how they paint it so if you want to actually make money look elsewhere. Unless u started in the pandemic no newer people are making it here especially with the trainers they have.

Fun Co-workers; Terrible Management, low pay

If I could rate this company zero stars I would. Everyone considering this company please beware. This company over promises and underdelivers! The training experience was absolutely awful. Full of PowerPoints that do not adequately prepare you for the actual job you will be doing. The trainer clearly has no prior experience but deflects by making new hires feel stupid for asking questions. They promise you that if you come in and work hard, you will be successful. That however is just not possible with dead leads and low rates. You can come in everyday, work very hard, call over 100 potential candidates, consistently make new leads and follow up on them, and still not make it out of the training class. If you are looking for job security, this is not the place to find it. The pay is also an issue. It’s very low especially considering how difficult it is to place a nurse on assignment. So you’re looking at non commission pay until you are able to do so which is defintely not a livable wage. The work culture is decent. They try to make thd office fun with various different activities. The office could definitely be more diverse. Overall, not a good experience and I defintely would not recommend.

Pretty Great!

Recruiting is tough... I can't even lie about that. The market is a bit weird right now since we have come out of the pandemic, but the people at this company truly care and want you to succeed.

It’s Gone Downhill

I think this company used to be great, but in the last year, they have made great changes and increased the goals in a declining market. There is a training program for the first two months that doesn’t prepare you hardly at all for your actual job. The people they have selected to lead the trainings just don’t seem to know how to train properly. Lots of reading from power points on zoom. The base pay is low at $36000. It’s only a couple thousand above the poverty line for a single household and below the poverty line for anyone with a family. They say commission and big money come, but no one I started with this has made more than a couple hundred in commission since we started. There needs to be some big changes to keep people motivated enough to stick around.

Pros

Fun incentives, nice coworkers

Cons

Low base salary, unrealistic standards, difficult market, bad training

Great workplace

Amazing company to work for. Had great travel agents that were very helpful and responsive. The agency had lots of job opportunities around the country

Travel Nursing Agency with Declining Standards

Health Carousel is a decent choice for employment if the travel nursing market is in peak condition, but unfortunately it is not. Aside from the positive social interactions and friendships between employees, it is an awful excuse for an employer with self proclaimed “high morals”. The executives preach placing travel nurses in contracts for “the greater good” of the healthcare industry yet they expect the recruiters to sell some of the lowest paying contracts seen from an agency, just to exceed the base pay. I will also mention the company does not comply with “do not call” standards and expects employees to repeatedly call these nurses even after it is requested to be removed from call lists. Directors and executives will schedule countless hours of meetings and retraining through the 8am-5pm work days and expect you to put in extra hours to meet KPIs. Recently the company expressed that there is zero growth expected for the next year and used fear mongering as a tactic to try to motivate staff to make more calls and sell more contracts. After noticing executives and directors start scrambling, the company started seeing 3+ recruiters being let go each month rather than doing a mass layoff. On top of the zero growth expectation and terminations, they were STILL hiring recruiters. The Marketing team spent most of their days analyzing our outreach rather than marketing the company to nurses in order to gain new prospects so the pool of active travel nurses was shrinking rapidly. If you like to spend your days barely scraping by financially, selling low paying jobs to hard working -

Great place to work

I love working here because I know that I am helping make an impact and improving the lives of others. I love my team and everything this company stands for.

Horrible management

They don't care about you. No matter how hard you work it is never enough. They will still tell you that you are not working enough. They advertise flexible schedules and being able to work from home, that was a lie. It was like pulling teeth to get any support.

Pros

Some of the other employees were helpful.

Cons

Most seemed out to bring you down.

Mediocre

If you’re looking for a sense of fulfillment or any kind of advancement, this is not the company for you. The lack of support, understanding, and fear mongering over job security is nothing short of outstanding and appalling.

I would not recommend them to anyone.

What is the best part of working at the company? To work from home two days a week. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Management, layoffs and the high work load to manage. Management doesn’t care about associates. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Needs lots of improvement. They say they accept everyone but they do not act like it. You have to be a favorite to work there and if not then you are let go. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful, trying to manage the heavy workload with very little to no help.

Supportive Employer

Health Carousel is a good employer. The only thing I don’t like is how small your salary is. Other than that, I think they are very supportive of their employees.

Love the culture here

I love it here! This is a great job to learn about sales and recruiting, especially if you have minimal to no experience. They have a great training program and the managers really care about your success. I've learned a lot of transferrable skills.

Growing fast, maybe too fast

They grew really quickly during the pandemic when every hospital in the nation needed nurses. Now that it’s calming down it appears they may have grown too quick and are dealing with those consequences.

Recruiter

If you’re productive, you can make a lot of money as a recruiter. It’s normal to make over 100 cold calls in a day. Health Carousel does make changes frequently and sometimes for no reason.

Great pay and benefits

Recruiter is amazing! I plan to travel again within the year and will use the same recruiter/company again. Great assignments with large hospitals - both local and out of state.

Supportive

They will support you all the way from the beginning of your contract until the end. Although the contract is very long, they do not include overtime hours on the counting of contract.

It's okay

Definitely an entry level job. I have learned so much and met good people! I would like to get paid more but overall great place. You have to work really hard here if you want to make good money!

Helpful

Health carousel is a great place to start your sales career. Management is encouraging and helpful through training and beyond. The job itself is difficult and can be frustrating but they give you lots of resources to try to succeed.

Good Benefits, Compensation - Grind Culture

Decent base salary for a sales job. Insurance is fantastic. Lots of company activities with clubs, happy hours, events, etc. Mentally tough job. Its not the same company I started with. In 2022 market shifted and management became unclear in their expectations, pushed 24/7 availability, and it was all about KPIs and not closing deals.
