Most unprofessional work environment I ever experienced only worked for the company for 3 supervisor showed favoritism to one employee in particular

I was an Account Manager and although I cannot speak for every district the overall experience was really bad and I was a very hard worker, I worked with my staff and when I didn't have staff to make sure I showed them leadership. The District Manager would show up maybe once every 2 months just to dictate what should be done instead of finding out what I need to better represent the company, I was always interested in solutions not just talking about the problems, I would even come up with my own ideas for the better, I came up with numerous ways to show all my employees that they were appreciated instead of waiting for upper management to so, I had a meeting 1 to 2 times a week with all my employee's to discuss what their concerns were. Basically I did all that I could to create a good rapport with the Administrator & D.O.N. at the facility & that actually worked out great it was the actual company (HSCG) who did not encourage, be considerate, listen, deal with disgruntled employee's. After all this being said I still would tell someone not to work for the company because they did trust enough in me to be a leader & their were some perks like...Not having to clock in everyday..Taking off when feeling sick, being a leader, no higher ups over me, your own office (big or small), creating business relationships with employee's at the facility, helping the residents, going to other facilities and being apart of the holiday festivities

Hostile. There is zero room for advancement. They have a no raise policy. Applied for a job within the company that pays 2.00 more an hour, I was not going to get the extra pay because it would be considered a "raise " but they will hire on a man for the same position at 2.00 an hour more. That makes absolutely no sense. Managers are expected to work 7 days a week when understaffed, on a salary that won't even pay rent in my area. Experience and dedication to your job is not rewarded and laziness and disrespect are not dealt with accordingly. They will burn you out and use you up, then cut hours until you quit. I have seen it too many times to count. You can't ask questions or you are threatened with termination. Not a job I would recommend to anyone.

The culture depends on your director and district manager. I traveled for the company almost a decade so I worked for good and bad district managers. I worked in almost 60 different facilities for hcsg. The most crippling problem I ran into at almost every building was staffing and attendance. If the food service director puts in the consistent effort to train and empower their departments staff and actually follows the attendance policies to weed out repeat offenders it's a good job. So if your interviewing for an hourly position I suggest some research on the department manager. That will give you an idea of the culture of the facility your thinking about. If your a potential manager it is what you make it. Do your job well and communicate with your district manager and nursing home administrator/director of nursing and you'll have a great job.

The management culture is excellent in our district. Most of the managers in our circle work together and help one another when needed. I can’t speak for the entire company but our DM is high on communication and team building. But any management position in foodservice can be challenging and healthcare is no different. Hard to motivate, and train people that don’t want the training and aren’t motivated to learn a new skill.

Worst place I ever worked. They say they have a state of the art training program..not true. You are not trained just used. You ask for help... they wait until the walls are falling in on you. Neverenough help.. They pay poorly. Their account managers work until they pass out...7 days a week..opening to close. RUN from this place!!!!

This is by far one of the worst places to work. This company is full of liars In the upper management, they just push off work to the next person available, they will replace you before they fix the problem. This company is a joke.

Helped out at another building never got paid. Said that they had no prove with this sorry company for 2 years

HCSG is a very cut throat company. They don't care how many hours their account managers have to work to keep their departments running. Facilities are always short staffed, and theres never a thank you, or "good job" from the company. No sooner did I get my department fully staffed, and satisfaction ratings from the Residents way up, they send out an OPS bully who cuts my staffing levels, and were right back where we started; all in the name of "efficiency". If your planning on applying for a management position, I would suggest another company. you will receive little to no training, or direction, and forget support; your on your own.
