I would recommend HCMC as a place to work, faced paced, but learn a lot culturally. The hardest part of the job is finding placement for level 3 offenders.

SENIOR PATIENT ACCESS SPECIALIST (Former Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNMay 20, 2018
There are many roles at hennepin health care systems and although pay may sound competitive initially, please consider the cost of benefits including union dues and mandatory PERA contributions. There are various career paths but a very stringent attendance policy. It's a great fit if it's what your looking for.
Pros
room for change and growth
Cons
attendance policy and cost of benefits

Heavy workload, most departments work well together
X-Ray Technician (Current Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNMay 9, 2018
Heavy work load could be made easier if patients were examined completely before sending them to the imaging dept. There is a very diverse culture in clientele. Non-union departments base advancement on how well you are liked personally and not based on your ability or seniority.
Pros
Excellent coworkers
Cons
management bases advancement on how well they like you.

Patient Access Specialist, Sr (Former Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNMay 6, 2018
I loved my job until there was a huge management change. We lost the back bone of our department due to corporate firing our manager because of budget cuts, and the all other supervisors had to cover her workload. The new changes cut us deep.

RN (Former Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNApril 12, 2018
I worked with great co-workers who were committed to patient care. Management gets bogged down in too many meetings, and change happens slowly. Wonderful Surgeons and very respectful environment.
Pros
commited to patient care
Cons
too many meetings

Comfortable working atmosphere within the financial department.
Financial Counselor/Spanish Interpreter (Former Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNApril 8, 2018
A typical work day consisted of patient insurance tracking/census of hospital demographic and insurance data. I learned about several discount programs within the hospital and other clinics within the Metro area. Procedures on how to access patients for approval of health care programs. Programs included county health programs such as Medical Assistance, Emergency Medical Assistants Programs, Hennepin Health Care. Learned how to work within the Epic software system when dealing with billing and account adjustment in the Revenue Cycle Management department. The work culture provided a group that was always willing to help complete a task, provide needed information, as well as receiving support from other department hospital or clinical staff. The hardest part of the job would be to get a patient to comply with what documentation was necessary to obtain for approval of insurance programs that they were eligible for. The most enjoyable part of this job was getting to know the functions of the financial healthcare system, and helping patients to know that there were healthcare programs to help them because they were uninsured.
Pros
Good staff support.
Cons
Changes within management.

Information Security Analyst (Former Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNMarch 27, 2018
Small salary increase or no increase at all every year due to hospital keep losing money. This is because a large percentage of patients that get services at HCMC do not have health insurance. Thus, resulting in loss revenue for the hospital.

Poor management, high turn-over
Senior Support Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Minneapolis, MNMarch 6, 2018
The manager at our facility was bias with certain staff and supervisors which reflected in her delegating the work assignments. Projects were too many and too big most of the times with never enough staff to sufficiently manage and complete them. The work load was too much for most of the staff and supervisors which resulted in the highest turn over I've ever seen.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Poor management, high turn over
