I loved this job, it was an amazing place to work with great co-workers who I loved to be around. I still visit even after I have left. I loved the job, it just wasn't for me for a long period of time.

Not enough aides to resident ratio, so basically be prepared to do your job and others. They just started bringing in agency but do you think they know what they’re doing or put in the work that the residents NEED? No! Management doesn’t care about their employees, the employees refer to this place as “a sinking ship”. Employees are all looking for other employment. Good employees leaving after 5,10,15 years there. Sad because the residents are the ones that pay and no one in upper management seems to care. They Just keep cashing the rent checks. They take on residents that are 2 person assist and say “Oh they’re independent” lol Most the employees are great and the residents as well but it’s a battle you can’t win when no one wants to admit there’s a problem.
Resident Aide/Caregiver in Hudsonville, MI

Management was very involved as we had staffing shortages and they offered many bonuses. Payment is low compared to nearby areas. 30 minute break for an 8 hour shift. I loved how flexible the schedule was as I was a student. The residents and regular staff are wonderful, but my main issue was the workload was too much considering the staffing shortage.

There is lots of room for advancement. I love my co workers and residents. This would be a great place for a starting out job, but compensation is not where it should be at all, especially for one with lots of work experience or someone who has been with the company for a long time.

Such a toxic place to work. Managers that have a goal of having their department succeed are in turn worked to the bone and asked from corporate, what more can you do for us. No care or recognition to achievements. Pay is very low for taking care of the elderly with memory issues. The whole place is a revolving door of new people constantly. Extremely hard to retain staff when you don't make current staff feel valued at all. If you don't like it, they will just show you the door instead of actually making a difference in a situation.

Interview Questions

Since I am working in the kitchen, a lot of the questions were food related. Examples included what types of food I've made, my favorite cuisine, etc. Some questions were also along the lines of asking what I would do in a situation of conflict, or how I manage my time or stress at work.
