Worked with hi-crush before the COVID pandemic. There was 5 crews, plenty of overtime. After COVID they ran with 1 crew and got laid off. Good company over all.

Not much to review. Management ok, advancement non-existent. If you want a job where you will come to work and learn, this is the job for you. If you are afraid of hard work, this is not the position for you.

Potential to be a great company but upper management is garbage.

Potential to be a great company but upper management does not know what they are doing for the most part. You get housing meals, boots, shirts, pants. The job itself is fairly easy but they want a 4 man job done by a 3 man job. They favor people that have no pride or work ethic.

Pros

2 weeks on 1 week off, you get pants, shirts and boots and housing.

Favoritism/bad management

Unknowable managers who defended their favorites. No breaks given, you ate and went to the bathroom when you could if you could. Managers could come and go as they pleased leaving the rest short staffed. Mangers were supposed to work during the shift but they rarely did. No opportunity of advancement and if you weren’t a favorite of the managers you were screwed.

Good management and great crew

Good place to work at. Always listened to suggestions and willing to try new ways to improve work efficiency while making the job easier on the workers. Good pay and decent benefits. I would go back there today if they were hiring!

Great pay, man camps are nice get your own room meals paid, kitchen staff from all around the world. Highly recommend this job 2 week on 1 week off schedule

Great pay but market swings

It's sand mining, the pay is great, but the market is hard. There are ups and downs. Not all the management is trained in management and are not always good with people. Otherwise, I enjoyed the job and the pay was good. When the market goes into a down turn, layoffs hit and keeping your job is up in the air.

Amazing job great pay and benefits the work is for the most part pretty easy as long as you are focused and have good work ethics there is no problems!

Very fun, good pay

Very fun work, pay and benefits are very livable. Tight knit teams, fast learning, hard work but very fun. The only thing is job security, sand mines are up and down constantly but you have to remain calm and flexible to the changing schedule

Great Growing Company

I have been with the company since the very beginning and proud of the growth over the past 8 years. The company has grown from 11 employees to over 700 in only 8 years. Company grows from within and also adds new talent where needed. The footprint has gone from Wisconsin to national and Canada.

Poor management

No communication, mangers always yalling at everyone, poor tranning. Poor management.poor pay. No man - camps. Alot of drama. More drama with management then any thing else. Managers always starting roomers. All the crew leaders are out to get each other. No team work at all. Most crew leader poor communication. Most of them don't know anything about sand mining. Or about there own plant.

Poor management

Management lied from the interview until I quit. Management wants hourly personnel available at all times. Management gets there when they want and leave when they want. Plant Manger is arrogant and has no plan from day to day except to produce sand regardless. They look for any reason to not give production bonuses. Very poor place to work unless you are looking for lots of hours and don't care how you're spoken too or treated.

Absolutely no advancement in this company.

You will never be promoted or moved to a different position in this company, you will get the work of others but never the salary or the position. They will hire before they move someone internally. This happened multiple times. Senior Management is completely unprofessional, lack the skills to utilize talented and dedicated employees to their fullest and breed discontent. Training is non existent and you are set up for failure then ridiculed by peers and management for failing. Your position will be eliminated then in a month they will hire again. Not secure, no advancement or career growth potential at any level in this company.

Great for Employee Appreciation

This company is great for employee appreciation, however, they need to work on communication with the personnel that actually do the work and stop making all management decisions based on what management thinks happens at the 'working' level.

Bad Management and Poor Scheduling

Nothing bad about working. Physical Labor. Relaxed mostly. Terrible management. Can't plan anything as the schedule changes. Get promises in interview on paper.
