Hill's used to be the envy of every company in the veterinary industry but that has changed. There are still many great people working at Hill's but many of those are now looking for something else. Current leadership on the sales side are pulling more and more away from the veterinary roots of the company and support for the veterinary industry at a local, state and national level. The benefits that come from being owned by Colgate are excellent but then you have to deal with the rules that also come with a company like colgate.
The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the great people who are still there. The hardest part of the job is working with the new people joining the company who could care less about the veterinary history and culture of Hill's and are doing their best to move away from it.
The people who still work there because of the veterinary history
The new people who could care less about the veterinary culture and history

Great company to work for. Their mission is what they strive for. Competition and online sales are affecting all aspects of this company, hopefully they can maintain their leadership. Great benefits and pay. Good work culture, dedicated, knowledgeable people.
Favorite employer. Learned alot, met alot of great people and got to travel
Director of HR-Sales (Former Employee) – Topeka, KS – March 30, 2018
I enjoyed much success at Hills, development, job assignments, promotions, compensation and bonuses, travel. Maintain professional knowledge. Left because of commute, 10 years, and lack of further promotion
Unmatched benefits, but outdated promotion process

You would be hard pressed to find a company that gave its employees better benefits. Paid time off, full medical coverage, great discounts. But it has an antiquated system that locks employees in if they are unlucky enough to be hired in at a low level. Over all a good company to work for, but depending on your department, you may not advance as quickly as you might like.

I was with Crossmark for 3 years and Hills for 2, and was never given a raise or any type advancement. I interviewed for a supervisor position and was told the program was in good health and standing and the job would be available for years to come. However, at the beginning of the year I was notified the program was going away and I was out of a job.
Hill's Pet Nutrition is an excelent place to work!

I have nothing bad to say about my work experience at Hill's. It's a team environment, the pay is excellent, the benefits are excellent. I would recommend Hill's to anyone looking for a job in eastern Kansas. Or if your into sales, their sales positions would also be great. The supervisors are great people as well as the Presidents and Vice Presidents. The CEO is a fantastic man. I was happy to have worked for him!
Pay, benefits, an excellent work environment, and excellent supervisors
CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE (Former Employee) – Ponchatoula, LA – June 18, 2017
The benefits are great, but the pay is low due to company changing the bags every month. The job is paid hourly with overtime, but due to the company changing the packages and the size, the price for the food does not match the cost for the product.
Believes strongly in science and technology behind product, great benefits and most people are wonderful. Marketing is improving but understaffed in support leading to immense workload trickling down resulting in deteriorating work life balance. Expect to spend evenings and weekends with admin responsibilities
Passionate employees and your work has a sense of purpose
Manager (Current Employee) – Global headquarters, Topeka, KS – September 20, 2016
Great products backed by science, you can really stand behind what the company produces. Intelligent and friendly co-workers that are passionate about what we do (most of them!). Company is caring, ethical, stable, and working very hard to be more progressive. Bring your dog to work day is every day at the corporate office, which is a lot of fun! Hardest part of the job= there is a lot of change taking place to help us be more efficient, and the pace of business is very fast. There is so much work you could work around the clock if you let yourself. However, the company is very supportive of work-life balance, it's more a matter of setting your own limits. Some groups at the corporate office have summer hours, and work-smart options (can work from home and flex your start/end time). Best part of the job= opportunities for continual learning and development. Being a part of Colgate means you have a lot of opportunity (globally) to experience new things if you are willing to work hard.
Bring your dog to work every day, flexible work environment, opportunities for learning/development
Fast paced, ever changing business...a lot to keep up with!
