Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) –  Tulsa, OKMay 7, 2018
I loved Hilti but I got a military style manager after being promoted and he was very selective and prejudice on who he let get away with stuff. Before I got stuck with that manager it was the best job I've ever had.
Pros
great company
Cons
one bad manager

Hilti review
Sales Associate (Former Employee) –  United StatesMay 2, 2018
Culture has drastically changed to where little importance is given to long-termed team members. Work/life balance and created environment of stress has employees on edge and Executive Management Team does not foster a safe team environment.

Fantastic product offering with many knowledgeable and intelligent employees! The organization needs to remember the collaborative team member involvement that helped create the company they have become!

new aspect of the way this company did business.
Tool Representative (Former Employee) –  West Seneca, NYApril 22, 2018
We would work different hours on different weeks, I.E. three days of 12 hours one of 8 hours and one of 4 to 6hours. then depending on available personnel this would change to something else. I learned much in the way of minor engineering due to the anchoring materials for differing materials and strength needed for various applications. Also the knowledge of choosing the right tool for the job to be done. This being a new way of doing business for Hilti, they were in the process of selling not only the tools and fasteners that they made in a retail setting( Home Depot Stores) but instead of seeing a traveling tool representative at a job site the average do it yourselfer or small remodeler also had access to the knowledge of the proper way to utilize the tools that they had purchased. Hilti and Home Depot joined in selling high end equipment along with the expertise of use to every day people. Hardest and most enjoyable part was learning in two weeks what was necessary to responceably send customers back to their jobs knowing that what they were about to do was correct.
Pros
Met a lot of people who like myself in previous years, needed some extra guidance.
Cons
At first a lot of time worked setting up Hilti shops in Home Depot stores.

Sr. Key Account Manager Mechanical Trades (Current Employee) –  Phoenix, AZApril 6, 2018
The ever changing management at Hilti , and thr lack of experience managers made my career at Hilti the past four years stressful. Management changed territories every 18 months and hired new sales people to take over your existing buying accounts making you need to rebuild naew territories from scrach.

Poor Management -
Energy Specialist (Current Employee) –  TexasMarch 21, 2018
The marketing organization for Energy (CE&I) is managed very poorly. The upper management has no understanding of the energy business and they believe it is the same as the commercial business.

Management just wants to look at numbers which they believe the only way to measure the success. These numbers can be inflated artificially. So, if you are good at making yourself look good with fake numbers, you deserve to get bonus or promotion
.
There is too much competition between team members because the numbers are always compared with your peers.

Compensation/Bonus structure is not based on your performance. You just need to be lucky to get paid.

Great place if you can avoid and survive the politics
Senior Manager (Former Employee) –  Tulsa, OKFebruary 23, 2018
Company reputation is second to none in their industry. R&D and innovative products are superb. Most people are great to work with but there are just enough rotten apples to spoil the bunch. Work-Life balance is an illusion, a punch line to a sick joke. Some highly questionable upper level hiring practices (e.g. Director and above) and although International job opportunities are available, ex-pats are compensated extremely poorly. Apparently you're supposed to just be thankful for the experience and scenery around the Rhine Valley. Any discussion of how they expect you to pay rent, feed yourself and your family is trivial and alarming to them. You are suddenly viewed as ungrateful and almost made to feel as if you should be paying them for the privilege of working for them.
Pros
Good benefits, innovative products
Cons
Questionable hiring practices, low pay, managers that play favorites

Outside Sales- Account Manager Level II-IV (Former Employee) –  San Jose, CAJanuary 9, 2018
You must be a driven self-motivator to succeed in this role. You will be responsible for creating your own schedule, and executing your own initiatives to drive your business within your given accounts. It is a great opportunity to learn the responsibilities of an outside sales role that include, time and territory management, maintaining customer relationships and building and executing a sales plan.

The company allows and encourages close collaborative relationships with other team members.

The most challenging part of the job is staying motivated when faced when customer resistance. Finding new angles or solutions to overcome customer challenges. Gaining access to and acquiring the trust of multiple levels of management to ultimately change or enhance an accounts current means of operation.
Pros
Free lunches, golfing, company trips, flexible schedule
Cons
Lack of support from upper management, slow process to add new innovative products

Picking
Packaging (Former Employee) –  Visalia, CAJanuary 6, 2018
Most of the employees that are hired on are usually lazier and don't try as hard as the temporary workers. All the hard work is thrown to the temporary workers. The Pickers that they had would always mispick making packaging harder.

Good place to work, but due to the transition in leadership it was not the best place to work. I was not a priority being an intern and did not get to sell like I wanted to.
