Underwriting Assistant (Former Employee) –  Sandy Springs, GAMarch 16, 2015
I worked here for 2 years. I don't have much faith in management for a number of reasons. Mainly, most of the managers don't have any actual experience managing. Otherwise, my co-workers were the only thing that kept me going.

Enjoy the people and the projects, still a growing organization so a little under staffed and needing more discipline.

Its alright - pretty dull but pays the bills. Management could be way better in the operations department. If you want to feel like you're back in high school, this is the job for you.

I enjoyed working for Hiscox very much. I met a lot of wonderful people, stayed connected, and learned a great deal about the operations side of the industry. I spent most of the time training others, reviewing work, processing maintenances, quotes and binds. I didn't really find this job hard because I enjoyed it.
Pros

Agency Risk Manager (Current Employee) –  White Plains, NYJuly 8, 2012
Hours are 9 to 5 - always very busy so the day goes by quickly! I was exposed to many facets of the business including risk management, audit, accounting, operations, and underwriting.
Management is always readily available and eager to support career objectives. Employee reviews are given twice a year.
Co-workers at Hiscox are amazing! The staff is young and upbeat - a sense of humor is a must.
The hardest part of the job is managing a heavy workload and the most enjoyable part of the job is providing great service to internal and external parties. Additionally, the company is socially responsible and plans annual volunteer activities for employees to participate in.
Pros
annual holiday bonus, generous pto
Cons
limited resources
