Great Benefits

Pro of working for Hoag were the great benefits. Pay wasn’t great unfortunately and a lot of micro managing happened. Utilized a lot of great skills I had but the position wasn’t for me.

Toxic Work Environment - Avoid At All Cost!

IT was undergoing major budget cuts and looking to outsource work overseas to India. Does not foster an environment of growth/opportunity, but one of extreme toxicity, cronyism, negligence, and unprofessional/abusive behavior. Managers are very unqualified (Lacking of both technical and professional skills) to run departments as needed, and only care about how higher-ups perceive them (Nice to C-suite/leadership when they are physically present, yell or chastise subordinates when they are not present). HR does not care about your concerns of harassment when you bring issues and complaints to light. Their only interest is in protecting the reputation of the company and allows this behavior to persist. No respect for work-life balance and remote work in a time when remote/hybrid options are practiced widely during and after the pandemic. No regard for one's well-being. Would not recommend anyone to work here. Many good employees have left to pursue other opportunities for these reasons.

What is the best part of working at the company?The best part was the quality of the subs they gave you. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Management was oblivious to issues that were causing people to leave. No support. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?the work environment was great working with only one other person in my pod. Just like school. the good are great and the bad are the worst.

Been here 6 months so far and I very much enjoy the people, culture and environment. Once you get settled in and find your groove and other see you perform, you begin to feel a sense of welcome and belonging. Lots of friendly people here. I highly recommend it.

Busy and always something to learn

Overall I enjoyed my time working for Hoag! I left only because I moved out of state. It's a large learning curve at first, but after a few months you can get the hang of insurance and registration. The patients are generally very kind and I had some of the best co-workers and management throughout my time there. There was always somebody I could reach out to for help. I had for the most part great relationships with other departments as well and enjoyed interacting with them. Their management were often very approachable and easy to reach when needed. I learned from working in multiple outpatient locations that the hiring manager for a department could really make or break that department and it affected our overall ability to work as a team. Otherwise, Hoag was a wonderful place to work and I would have continued working there if I didn't move.

Run Forest Run!

Run by overpaid managers who want you to clock-in within a min of your assigned time…and you will be monitored for every minute you work. There ‘are’ better jobs out there for the same position/pay. This is NOT a good place to work. There is zero parking for all employees too so be prepared to walk two tenths of a mile from the parking lot to the hospital…and you have to clock in on time within a minute…and you only get 45 min lunch. Your job also requires walking all day so don’t expect a casual work environment…this is highstress high turnover position…they advertise for this position all the time.

Respiratory Care: It's a large hospital, many different ICU's, a NICU and ER. It's an intense shift, and you are exhausted, but compensated well. Many different clinical ladders to increase pay. Long-term employees of 10-20, sometimes 30-years speaks well. Downside? The Oscar RT educator is a joke.

Beautiful safe workplace, management varies

One of the best hospitals I've ever worked at; however, management varied depending on the unit. Great place to start for new nurses though. Wish they paid more for how much work we had to put in. Patients are extremely entitled.

Terrible pay and benefits

Lowest pay in all of SoCal. Worst benefits. Match 50 cents on the dollar. Overwork you, no seniority, work every other weekend with no stability in schedule. Stay far away.

What is the best part of working at the company?HR has come a long way over the last decade, and generally the front line managers are qualified, appreciative, effective and supportive of staff. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?The organization has very high standards. I am not complaining about that, but some may find requirements challenging.What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Supportive environment, but some archaic labor rules continue to be enforced (there is virtually no one working from home now, or during the entire pandemic, for example). Feels at times very much as if the organization leadership does not have trust and confidence in the people doing the work, so it can be demotivating at times. I feel like they’re trying, but the Board is comprised of business people who are not in the 21st century quite yet. They need to keep moving toward it though because they’re missing out on a lot of talent.What is a typical day like for you at the company?Work about 9 hours most days, pretty focused on work and deadlines most of this time. Colleagues are pleasant, boss lets me do my work and manage my own schedule. Allowed some creativity which I appreciate. Good collaboration between departments.
