Hoag is a great place to work because the staffs are very supportive and work as a team to help patients to get the care they deserve. We are checked by our supervisors on how we are doing in our work, and do we see anything that will help the growth of our team.

Run Forest Run!

Desktop Support (Former Employee) - Orange County, CA - May 30, 2023

Run by overpaid managers who want you to clock-in within a min of your assigned time…and you will be monitored for every minute you work. There ‘are’ better jobs out there for the same position/pay. This is NOT a good place to work. There is zero parking for all employees too so be prepared to walk two tenths of a mile from the parking lot to the hospital…and you have to clock in on time within a minute…and you only get 45 min lunch. Your job also requires walking all day so don’t expect a casual work environment…this is highstress high turnover position…they advertise for this position all the time.

Great place to work

I loved working for Hoag. Benefits are great and the pay is also great. Management is good too. I would recommend. Everyone works as a team and helps each other out. Best job I've ever had.

Great place to work, with opportunities.

Respiratory Care Practitioner (Former Employee) - Newport Beach, CA - April 23, 2023

Respiratory Care: It's a large hospital, many different ICU's, a NICU and ER. It's an intense shift, and you are exhausted, but compensated well. Many different clinical ladders to increase pay. Long-term employees of 10-20, sometimes 30-years speaks well. Downside? The Oscar RT educator is a joke.

Lowest paying in Orange County. It is actually embarrassing how much I get paid. Management throws extravagant events with free bags/goodies to distract us from how low wages are.

Beautiful safe workplace, management varies

One of the best hospitals I've ever worked at; however, management varied depending on the unit. Great place to start for new nurses though. Wish they paid more for how much work we had to put in. Patients are extremely entitled.

Great place to work

I enjoy working for hoag. Their insurance is a bit expensive and the benefits are costly. Some management takes advantage of departments but I had a great team to work with

Terrible pay and benefits

Lowest pay in all of SoCal. Worst benefits. Match 50 cents on the dollar. Overwork you, no seniority, work every other weekend with no stability in schedule. Stay far away.

What is the best part of working at the company?HR has come a long way over the last decade, and generally the front line managers are qualified, appreciative, effective and supportive of staff. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?The organization has very high standards. I am not complaining about that, but some may find requirements challenging.What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Supportive environment, but some archaic labor rules continue to be enforced (there is virtually no one working from home now, or during the entire pandemic, for example). Feels at times very much as if the organization leadership does not have trust and confidence in the people doing the work, so it can be demotivating at times. I feel like they’re trying, but the Board is comprised of business people who are not in the 21st century quite yet. They need to keep moving toward it though because they’re missing out on a lot of talent.What is a typical day like for you at the company?Work about 9 hours most days, pretty focused on work and deadlines most of this time. Colleagues are pleasant, boss lets me do my work and manage my own schedule. Allowed some creativity which I appreciate. Good collaboration between departments.

The best team I've ever had

Even my employment at Hoag Clinic -Billing Dept was only a few months, I was so sad to leave the best team I've ever had due to family's relocation. I learned so much from my all coworkers, supervisor and manager. Management is comfortable to communicate. They all were so helpful during training period. Even they were super busy but still stop to answer any questions I had or worked together to solve the issue. Such a great team to work with.

Great culture, friendly and respectful coworkers, free expresso coffee :-)

fun work place

I was a system installer for PC at Hoag (Former Employee) - Newport Beach, CA - January 8, 2023

Hog was a wonderful l place for me to work. I was learning as I went along ;however, I got sick and had to move onto a lessor job and continue in one once my mother became ill , yet I would reamend to anyone want to seek out a new job and career .

The only reason I'm leaving a 3 star is because the people that stay are some of the best co-workers I've ever had. The team was incredibly understaffed and management wasn't helping either but through actual honest to goodness teamwork, we were able to soldier through it. Don't work here.

Great workplace

Hoag is a great place to work at. There is always amazing teamwork. There is usually adequate resources to carry out your job, but you pay the price with lower pay. PTO is easy to request and use.

Facility is nice

Pay is low especially for being in Newport. Patients and their families are demanding, and the higher ups support and enable mistreatment of nurses and aides in order to meet patient satisfaction surveys. Thus, causing burnout and low moral in nurses. Constantly micromanaging without support.
