Ok place
More ups than downs. But, there's a lot of favoritism. I think everyone should be treated equal. Other than that, it's a great place to work and learn

It’s a circus
Management is constantly changing policies and procedures. No one has a clear picture of expectations. Management is disrespectful and dishonest. They use the core valves as black mail.

Micro managed
Holt as a complete company is OK, the Waco Branch not so much. It is Micro Managed by one person and it just Flat out makes everyone unhappy. The management is taught to cheat the employees and customers.

Different departments do not work together for a common goal. Customer best interest is nothing when it comes to making money for service department.
Company is shooting sales people in the foot by giving their business to its sister rental company. The management wont take your advice on fixing safety issues and doesn't recognize when the store that does the most business is falling apart and looks terrible needs to be fixed or remodeled for customer experience.

Company is focusing on employee retention.
Has a lot of focus on teaching employees about the culture of the company. "Vision, Mission, Values".
DISC, a behavior assessment tool, is a big focus in this company. A lot of training is available with this company and their benefits are good.

They use PTO, Paid Time Off. Start with 2 weeks vacation plus sick days. PTO is available immediately.

Can be very stressful at times.

Shop service Tech
Lots of opportunities for training. Very fast paced shop. If you work hard, it seems to go unnoticed though. Management at my current shop isn’t the best, but I’ve herd from other techs that they like their managers. Good work life balance as a shop tech but if you want to make money, mobile tech is they way to go. You will be away from for family most of the time

Think twice, then think again.
As a field service technician, typically start at 6 am. Will have at least a half hour of paperwork. When you get dispatched, better call the customer first. Some days, might get 3 jobs that don't pan out.(Customer already fixed, some one is already there, etc). Management just wants a body at the jobsite. You need to make friends with other field service guys as fast as possible, because that's who will train you. Most field service guys will help you, but there are some old grumpy guys that won't. The hardest part of the job to learn is the paperwork. I know of one guy that "donates" about 5 hours every Saturday morning to get caught up. You will be asked to break company policy, and the law. Logoff your Trimble device(DOT timekeeping device), and run overweight. You will not be provided the proper safety equipment for the job,(safety harness equipment for fall protection) even though that's against company policy, and many of the customers policy. But it's your fault if you get hurt.
Pros
Plenty of hours.
Cons
Lipservice to safety, Managements focus on bonus, at the expense of customers and employees.

Holt Cat is a fabulous company to work for
I am used to a heavier work load and being compensated for that. I would not want to leave Holt if it were not for financial circumstances. I do feel management needs to take a more aggressive role in problem solving personnel issues.
Pros
Work never has to come home with you.
Cons
Pay scale

Pay was terrible
Business seems to be focused on money and thats it. Lack of training back then and it was all on the job training. People were good to work with for the most part

Executives have no clue about the day-to-day operations and don't care.
Many policies and not much follow through. "Vision, Values and Mission" is a joke. Not many upper management nor executives have morals or ethics.
It's not very ethical when you have an interview with a VP for a regional position after you all have had alcoholic drinks in the parking lot of an extra-curriculum executive activity and get the position. This is very much a "who can you impress" kind of environment, or "who-do-you know." The old owner would make visits to stores and meet people. The new owners (there are 2) don't have time. However, they try and pass the word down the ladder that they care about their employees. This company pays the bare minimum and will not change. The owners and the shareholders are happy, no one cares about the actual worker bees.
Pros
Monday thru Friday
Cons
Too many chiefs and not enough indians.

Great environment
A typical day at work was tearing down and rebuilding engines that I had never really worked on and it was a great experience.
Learned new details, my manager wasn’t so great, workplace was a great environment, dealing with manager micro managing, learning new things.
