Companion Caregiver in Herndon, VA
I enjoyed working with clients. It was a joy to provide care and companionship to an older generation and I learned so much from each of them. I did not enjoy working for the company. I felt disrespected and underpaid. The reason I left was because they could not provide me with a steady client load within a reasonable commute from my house. Also, I had started walking dogs part time and found that I was paid more for that than taking care of elderly clients.

Not great but also not terrible. They give You few hours but call you last minute for shifts. Not great pay. The managers are rude too. They have an attitude when you call them for help

Clients ok. Had a good hours. Travel not too far. Pay was ok for the time I was there. I don’t think they do raises. Hardest part of job is fitting with the right client. I learned patience, perseverance, better communication skills, to set boundaries. Best part of job was feeling like I made a difference in the lives that I got to meet a lot of good clients!!

I am a former employee for Home Instead-Bremerton. I usually don't write reviews, but after recalling my whole experience and thinking about every interaction from start to finish, I definitely want to get the good word out. Working for Home Instead was absolutely my best work experience by far. The staff, the flexibility, the kindness you experience from each person in the building, the wonderful owners, everything. The wonderful ladies in the office do everything they can to work with you to ensure your schedule is tailored around your specific lifestyle. I know maybe that has been stated for other jobs and it's not necessarily true, but Home Instead TRULY DOES. They work with you to help with any questions, concerns or extra training you need. You never feel like you're inconveniencing them or that you can't talk to them, they are always welcoming, kind and will do everything they can to ensure the caregivers, clients and anyone else are happy and taken care of. My schedule was always tweaked when and how I asked it to be, but never if I didn't and I never had questions about when and where I was going to be working next, I always clearly knew. I have truly nothing bad or even sub-par to say about Home Instead, the only reason I'm leaving being that I moved and I took an opportunity much closer that would fit my place of residence now. I am truly sad to be leaving because they are simply just an awesome company to work for. Compensation is great and they are also truly flexible on if you need to take a day off. I have simply loved working for Home Instead and will continue to rave about how awesome they are. They 100 percent deserve a 5 star Rating and more.
Professional Caregiver in Gadsden, AL
They short your pay and then come up with 800 different excuses on why they don’t want to pay you. Franchise office also won’t call you back when you tell them that your check was shorted. Management spends all day gossiping in the office instead of helping clients or caregivers. The location manager is entirely inept and needs to be replaced ASAP. They have zero organization skills and will call you every single day to make up for shifts they forgot to fill, many times expecting to drop everything and run to a client (often over an hour away) to work short 2-5 hour shifts that aren’t worth it. They try to guilt trip you into taking extra shifts, threaten to fire you if you don’t answer the phone, and will straight lie to you about time off and agreed upon schedules. They will leave you in dangerous situations with clients and lie about finding you help with those clients. If you enjoy working 24/7, this job is for you. If you don’t, I’d recommend avoiding them.
