Great place, if you can tolerate rejection.
Online Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  New York, NYAugust 10, 2019
Great Place to work, but if you cant tolerate rejection and dont understand numbers, then maybe not for everyone. They offer free food, lots of paid time and contest for concert tickets and such.

It's not illegal to scam contractors, as long it builds the sales numbers up for HOMEADVISOR.
Sales people have paid for contractors memberships, to get the 800.00 in commission for that one sale!

Extremely difficult job, if you can make it 6 months, you are the minority.
Online Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Indianapolis, INMarch 13, 2019
It was s very high energy, fast paced work environment, however there were many questionable things that went on.
We were held to a very high standard on our metrics daily. (Dials and talk time)
I would not recommend H.A. as a career choice
Pros
Base + commission
Cons
Unrealistic goals, fire for no reason.

High pressure, company reputation makes it hard to sell
Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  Golden, COFebruary 6, 2019
Overall, it seems the rich just get richer here, and everyone else fights for scraps. If you don't do well, the pressure gets turned way up. When the job goes well, you can make a great paycheck. But it does seem like the people that end up doing well long-term get lucky at first and establish themselves as "closers," but none of these closers are saying or doing anything particularly magical. It seems the top producers get set up with a lot of lay-down closes.

They are a great company to work for and give generous benefits plus commissions. They have a great new age work environment and really want to see everyone succeed.

Very rude management
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Golden, CODecember 14, 2018
The management will make you feel completely stupid especially during the interview. They ask ridiculous questions then look at you as if they’re harshly judging you if you don’t “answer correctly.” I have exceptional experience and they denied me a position based off of the one interview where they couldn’t even get an actual manager to complete the interview process, and they did have someone take notes of my resolponses and pass them along. It seems like a great company, but the people are shady and rude.

Great Place but stressful
SALES CONSULTANT (Current Employee) –  Kansas City, KSNovember 20, 2018
If you love cold calling, SUPER. If you don't, STAY AWAY. The culture is great and the people are even better. The job can be stressful because you spend your day cold calling contractors who usually hang up on you. Hopefully you don't fear rejection.

Nice place, but cold calling is hard to do.
Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  Indianapolis, INOctober 18, 2018
If you are great at cold calling you can make amazing money here. 40K base salary. Expect to make 100-150 calls a day calling contractors to join HA. The benefits are amazing (again - if you can make it and stay). Employees are like in a revolving door. Managers, for the most part, stay, but not many can hack it for more than 6 months. They've lowered the sales quotas. If you can get hired in the winter time when contractors are needing HA it's great. The other quarters are much tougher.
Not a long term job for most. Think 6mos to a year. Some make it longer, just not many.
Weekends off unless you want to sell on Saturday to make your quota.
Expect to pay for parking - $60- $120 a month.
Pros
Great atmosphere. Lots of fun diversions for breaks.
Cons
Not a long term job.

INSIDE SALES CONSULTANT (Former Employee) –  Lenexa, KSOctober 4, 2018
Sales job for aggressive people. Several one call closes and must be quick with replies. Quick sales cycle and will be good for practicing your pitch as an entry level sales rep.

Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  Colorado Springs, COAugust 10, 2018
HA is a $7-9bil Corporation that has a tremendous attrition rate. Training is extremely poor, the sales software is primitive, and the equipment and technology is outdated and often glitches. Cross-training is also needed. They hire a lot of bright individuals with a great deal of talent, but it cannot keep them. They have the wrong people managing and they under utilize the talent right under their nose. The membership is poorly structured and they, as a corporation, seem to step over dollars to pick up pennies.
Pros
Wonderful people
Cons
Poorly run, poorly managed

Good job if you can cold call personal info from leads. No security or compensation if sales are not met which is way too high of a standard. Morals are extremely loose here.

Definitely an energetic environment. Enjoyed the coaching my management staff and the perks. Since I don't have a sales background, I found it to be frustrating.

If you enjoy negative management culture and a workday built for kindergardners join the HomeAdvisor team. There will be no possibility for advancement and the job skills you learn there will transfer to no other career. So if you enjoy being treated like a child and spending all day on the phone arguing with construction folk by all means apply!
Pros

High School Environment
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) –  Golden, COJune 27, 2017
Its a good company to work for just to get your feet off the ground right out of college. I learn a lot from one of the best teachers of how to close sales that doesn't longer work there anymore. I do believe if the CEO of the know what really goes on as far as the unprofessional examples the leadership does I think personally it would be better environment for people and morale of reps towards leadership. the hardest part of the job is the everyday struggle and grind but that's with any other sales job out there. I was there for 5 years and seen tons of people come in and out so if you are not a grinder, its not the job for you. The only one thing I would say is the relationships you build with people there are great.

HomeAdvisor is a pretty cool place to work, you can have a great career there. You will notice that people in the "inner circle" will be fed hot leads that close on the first call though.
