Great company with a great niche in the insurance industry
Insurance Agent, License # (Former Employee) – Cedar Park, TX – July 4, 2019
Typical Horace Mann approach is to provide teachers with "teacher appreciation events" with the intent of getting leads through teacher interaction. It's a great system and if your an insurance agent getting leads is key. Horace Mann's mission is to improve the financial health of educators through their products, Home, Life, Auto, and financial planning. Another service Horace Mann provides at no cost to the teacher is assistance with Student Loan Forgiveness and helping teachers navigate through the various federal programs. And another great way to generate leads..
Adjuster (Former Employee) – Irving, TX – August 13, 2019
Good vacation, PTO, nice coworkers, and nice faculties.
Management here is terrible and is seriously ruining the company. There is a “gotcha” mentality and it’s not possible to meet all of their expectations or meet goals all the time due to the volume and workload. Micromanaging here is the worst I’ve ever seen and management in general just seems incompetent. Files are documented incorrectly but if you don’t document that in your files it can be deemed as “not following management direction” and you can get written up. They seem to have a running list of things that you aren’t doing right. Another thing I’ve noticed here is management tends to retaliate and they bully people and act more like prison guards then a source of support. Culture here is so toxic and it made the job unbearable.
