horrible place to work
Direct Support Professional (Former Employee) –  Rural Hall, NCAugust 27, 2017
I worked for Horizons for a few months and in my time I have experienced lack of respect for employees favoritism and cut throat actions. they are always short staffed and never want to compensate you for the extra time you take to care for the children. the HR team are very racist and only tend and care for those who look like them . not enough pay for the amount of work you are required to do
Pros
none
Cons
no job security, if they dont like you they will find a way to fire you

Habitation Technician I (Former Employee) –  Rural Hall, NCApril 12, 2017
Their's a lot of work you have to do on a daily basis at times. The clients are well cared and they do daily living skills to grasp on their independence. The pay is quite low for all the hard work you do in this type of field.
Pros
They reward staff and show staff appreciation.
Cons
The pay is less than the work you do on a daily basis.

Direct Support Professional (Current Employee) –  Winston-Salem, NCMarch 5, 2017
You are required to do so much at this job and only get paid 9.25, i worked from 7:00am-7:30pm and i had to do so much like feed all of the clients, bath all the clients, take them to appointments, make sure all there programs were done, just got yelled at and told what to do all the time.
Pros
nothing

Great staff who have a caring attitude toward the clients served.
HABILITATION TECHNICIAN (Current Employee) –  Winston-Salem, NCJune 14, 2014
A typical day involves reviewing client care and coordinating with other disciplines for doctor appointments and services. Attending montlhly meetings and management of staff. Typing monthly and annual notes on the clients. Co-worker relationships were strong and very professional. The hardest part of the job was dealing with the illness or death of a client and also with meeting client requests from the parents.Often difficulty in meeting staffing needs to fill a particular shift.
Pros
Great management staff and consistency with procedures and policies.
Cons
Often trying to find staff to fill in when regular staff called out for the shift.
