Hostelling International
Hostelling International Employee Review
Great mission but lackluster support from upper management.
Employee (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - December 30, 2021
Working with HIUSA has been a pleasure yet stressful. Hospitality leans toward a high-stress environment and lack of support from upper management made it difficult to get anything done like maintenance repairs that kept getting pushed back This location ended up closing due to the pandemic. Met some great people and heard great stories.

Great place to work
Guest Services Assistant (Former Employee) - Houston, TX - August 19, 2018
I want to say as an organization that Hostelling international really does care about people as a whole from their travelers to their employees. Hours are flexible you can choose to switch between full and part time when necessary. The one reason it was so hard to leave this job was because I had an amazing team of coworkers and a proactive Manager. Anytime I had an issue with a guest, something needed to be fixed, etc. I could handle it and had help when needed.

The job was great. I worked with all types of people and I was able to travel around the country. The pay was ok, but the culture was great. Management was great .

Casual workplace. Very busy at times. Need more staff - working on getting them. Nonprofit organization with great mission. Everyone seems to try to be positive and supportive.
