Technician Assistant (Current Employee) –  GramercyOctober 5, 2018
The only positive thing about Houston Eye are the employees. There’s a lot of good people in HEA but for some reason, they past see that. If you do something wrong they are quick to judge, they may or may not give you a second chance. They will try to do everything they can to fire you if they don’t like you.

Anyone can be a leader but not everyone can lead. Certain managers do not know how to deal with others and that’s the issue, just because they have the manager title they believe they are always right and if you take an issue to HR, HR believes the manager as always. To add to this, I’ve noticed that people who have been here longer ( managers or directors) get their way. Please make sure to document everything if you work here as proof and to keep you safe.

In my years in working here, I’ve noticed that the turnaround is bad. People come and go. Go look at their job postings, every week they are looking for people to replace and they wonder what’s the problem. Maybe if they did a survey with their employees and actually listen and read their comments then they will know the reason for the turnaround.

If you want to advance your career then this is not the place. No room for growth.

Don't like it, there's the door!
Clinical Research Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXSeptember 4, 2018
The company is run by a bunch of mean, tired, unhappy rude people whom have total disregard for their employees. They use you to their advantage and give you no incentive to stay at all. Their motto is " if you don't like it, there's the door!" enough said, there is no fixing the problem, because ... there's the door if you don't like it!!

Has its ups and downs.
Receptionist & Doctor Secretary (Former Employee) –  The Woodlands, TXJuly 12, 2018
Working for a doctor is great but for HEA is stressful. Managment makes promises they don't keep. Such as learning new positions and when managers are out they use you as their "go to person" without the pay. They make you feel bad when asking days off even when it's months in advance. They can't keep employees due to these problems, so then it's pushed on to everyone else.

They only look out for the doctors
Receptionist (Former Employee) –  Bellaire, TXMay 17, 2018
HEA is a normal place to work, office politics are intense but the one thing you really need to look out for is the drs. HEA really only looks out for the drs and doesn't care about the employees at all. The drs can pretty much do whatever they want. It's a very stressful job that you won't be prepared for, the only good part is the pay/benefits.

Medical Records Technician and PBX Operator (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXApril 23, 2018
Lots of benefits but if you have an appointment you are shaved for a few days and it is unpaid. Full-time job but nobody communicates. You may get three answers on one question to find out later all answers were wrong. Mean culture. 30-minute lunch with no breaks even on ten hour days. Very low pay. Manager was a menace.

DocuWare Coordinator (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXDecember 26, 2017
The company has little room for growth. Managment is terrible, with little to no direction. I was put into an office for 6 months with no objective and little to no work. Very slow paced, and soul-draining. Look elsewhere as the competitors are much better.

Answering calls at a high volume while scheduling appointments. Helping patients figure out what doctor to schedule with, and also verify if the doctor is in network with the patient's insurance plan.

While at Houston Eye Associates I learned a lot. The hardest part was insurance and referrals. Easiest part was checking patients in and collecting co-pays.
