Need to give their employees raises
the salary for an IBM sbt is way lower than any company in the market, theres alot of work and not enough pay. Work hours are good , vacation and benefits are good but management is pretty poor.

It was ok
the job had no clear direction from the executives managing the company so we weren't given much guidance. No one had discuss objectives or goals so it was challenging.

Not a good Career Choice
Hired as a contractor/temp. Layed off within weeks of going Full Time. Manager took the day off whenever someone was fired or layed off. When manager let people go, it was not based on performance. Manager strongly played favorites. Only people in managers personal clique were promoted. Surrounded by backstabbing glory hounds. Other managers repeatedly promised it would get better. It never did.

Great place to have a career
Days are very busy and long hours but a sense of purpose is what keeps one energized. The culture is welcoming and at the same time healthy competitiveness among peers. The hardest part of each role was navigating the enormous amount of "blue" tape to get anything done, but at the same time that is what kept me going for so long. Most enjoyable is one feels like they are part of a family - its the people.

Contractual employ.
Night shift. Lot of physical labor, inventory, serial number captures. Time schedule usually not met by managment. Diverse learning experience from hardware installs, software script interpretation.

You're just a piece of meat. Your manager cares about you, but the workload expectations are beyond reasonable
If you enjoy working with the brain dead from Asia and South America, by all means, take a job with IBM. If you want to move to India or some other exotic locale so that you can keep your job, by all means, take a job with IBM. If you want the name on your resume, take a job with IBM. If you take a job with IBM, be prepared to deal with complete and total idiots in India, China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brazil, and a handful of other places of 'intelligence'. You will do ten times the work that you need to do in order to get any simple task done. And since those from across the sea are those that your success depends on, be prepared for lots of headaches.
