I think I will plan on returning.

I loved my managers & leads. Met great people. Learned a lot. I left due to my own personal circumstances. Reapplying. FYI- this job is not for the weak! You have to truly focus.

dissapointing for new people

This is just an extension of high school type drama where there is no diversity of experience. The mid-level leaders have only ever worked in the IRS and there is no true development.

Great benefits

Stressful job but benefits are great and pay is pretty decent. Learned a lot but the nature of the job puts you in an advisorial position with taxpayers

Exhausting

I really liked the job at the beginning but then when there’s no one available to help you on a case or when LDP managers start managing without any sense that’s when you start double thinking your future on the job. The compensation is great but there’s a lot of stress that you have to be able to manage in order to do a great job.

It’s ok

Government work of secure, great benefits and annual awards depending on performance. Get training for any job but it’s up to you to learn and apply the training. All federal holidays off and earn personal days off based on tenure. 4 hours per pay period to start then you move to to 6 hours after a few years then you get 8 hours a pay period after you’ve reached 15 years. Most jobs allow telework and you only have 1 office day per week

Great work life balance

No complaints except for the low pay and no bonuses. Work is consistent. Co-workers are friendly and helpful. It is a great place to launch your career and then move on.

Integral, Collaborative, and Fun Place to Work

I had the privilege of working at the IRS for more than 16 years, and my experience was marked by a blend of challenges and rewards, contributing to my professional growth in unforeseen ways.1. A typical day at the IRS is dynamic and fast-paced. Mornings usually involve reviewing and prioritizing the day's tasks, which could range from conducting audits, analyzing tax returns, corresponding with taxpayers, to participating in team meetings to discuss ongoing cases. The afternoons often include data analysis, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with tax laws. Given the nature of the work, adaptability and attention to detail were paramount.2. Working at the IRS provided me with an in-depth understanding of tax laws and regulations. I honed my analytical skills through data interpretation and learned to navigate complex tax codes efficiently. Additionally, the IRS fosters a culture of continuous learning, with ample opportunities for professional development, including training programs and workshops.3. Management at the IRS is characterized by a commitment to enforcing tax laws with precision and integrity. Supervisors are knowledgeable and provide guidance to ensure the team's success. Communication channels are well-established, and there is a clear sense of purpose in upholding the agency's mission.4. The workplace culture at the IRS is professional and collaborative. There's a shared commitment to public service, and employees are encouraged to work together to achieve common goals. The atmosphere is one of accountability, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency -

Pros

Sense of purpose that comes from contributing to the nation's tax system

Cons

Constant evolution of tax laws and regulations

A very frustrating & boring place to work.

What is the best part of working at the company?Wages & benefits are the best thing. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Very unorganized. Upper management has no idea about what goes on & how to run the agency. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Horrible. People goof off all time & don't do their work. When there is no work, people play cards & board games. The taxpayers dollars are being wasted. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Frustrating and at times very boring.

Great place to work!

I love my job! Great pay and benefits! Work from home 4 days a week, overtime offered but not guaranteed all year, I love that I finally have a great family/work balance in my life!

Horrible training

The training is woefully incomplete. The stick you in a training class for a couple months where they read from a training manual, which is out of date and doesn't show the systems you work with, then thrown out on the floor and told just use the internal Google system to find answers to questions you don't know all while being monitored and graded on stuff you've never been trained on or they briefly mentioned but said you didn't need to be knowledgeable about.

fun place to work i don’t like the parking everything else is good though. Just work and do what you need to do you should be fine. The location is eh too

Boring, but easy.

Cant say much about the department I am in. We sort documents to be reviewed by tax examiner and mail out any missorts to other department. Very simple but at times very repetitive and boring. Management is pretty easy going and understand most of the time if things come up that you have to call out, as long as you have the time which is extremely easy to accrue.
