Good for resume back round.
Laboratory Analyst (Former Employee) –  Salinas, CADecember 11, 2018
Not good for a long-term job. Learn as much as you can and save money, then as soon as possible get out as the work environment is truly toxic.

Advice: DO NOT TRUST ANYONE.

Poor Managment
Laboratory Analyst (Current Employee) –  ArkansasJune 6, 2018
My boss would wait until the last minute to order supplies that was needed to run our lab efficiently. He was very immature. The pay was very low. There is absolutely no room for additional education or advancement weighing the company. I worked Wed-Sun with off days on Monday and Tuesday and boss has never considered switching that up to make it fair for the other two people who never has a weekend day off. I would only recommend this job as a summer internship for college students or a way to gain a little more experience for students entering the workforce

Stressful and poorly managed company
Lab Analyst (Former Employee) –  Cashmere, WAMay 3, 2018
The company is a mess. The employees are not treated well and concerns are not listened to by corporate. Working for this company puts its employees under a lot of mental and physical duress. The amount of hours that we were required to work were way too high. We worked upwards of 21 hour shifts that were solo for more than half of them. There wasn't much time for bathroom or food breaks. This resulted in a lot of health issues.

Run Away
Operations (Former Employee) –  Grand Island, NEApril 20, 2018
The worst place to work. Management is undertrained, the operations team is a joke. Those people should not be in charge of anything. The company has gotten worse every year I worked there. The operations team does not listen to any sort of critique without getting hostile. It is a good place to get experience, but never stop looking for a different job, no one last in this company unless you are willing to sell your soul and not have a personal life.

Good Starting Point
Lab Technician (Current Employee) –  Oxnard, CA 93030March 6, 2018
Lab technicians are entry level. Typically most of a shift is taken up by processing samples and running PCR. Some computer work required mostly in LIMS. Workload is dependent on the number of samples received in a day which can vary greatly. Coworkers and management are generally friendly and relaxed. As a 24 hour lab night and weekend shifts can be difficult and seniority gets first pick for shifts most of the time.
Pros
Very open to recent graduates
Cons
Repetitive with little chance of growth

Analytical Lab Technician (Former Employee) –  Oxnard, CAFebruary 3, 2018
Boss was very relaxed. There was no opportunity to move up and the management was lacking. The boss didn't know of sportsmanship or company manners or proper procedures. Lack of proper training.

Meat Grinder for Fresh Graduates to Gain Experience
Laboratory Analyst (Former Employee) –  Scottsville, KYSeptember 21, 2017
The pay is abysmal for them requiring trained scientists. The hours are lousy, but that comes with almost all quality control positions. Your immediate manager might be awesome, but everyone above them is in the Pacific north west and they NEVER pay for repairs and new equipment. It ends up feeling like the managers don't mind throwing underpaid bodies at problems instead of actually investing in the company and its employees. Almost all of my coworkers either got their experience there and left in a year, or they stayed longer while working on a second degree to try to find a better job. It is not a place to stay, but if you need the experience, you can get through this meat grinder for a year. At least you're working with other young people and cracking jokes. Also, there's no room for advancement, so it's not like the pay gets better.
Pros
Hire fresh graduates
Cons
Low pay, no advancement, not much learning, no investment from corporate

Lots of variety
QA Microbiologist (Current Employee) –  Seattle, WAJuly 19, 2017
Its a good first job out of college. At the right location there's lots to learn. Turn over at some locations can be pretty high for the work volume so be prepared to work long hours during the busy months. Upper management needs to work on their expectations, too many projects and other things going on at once and not enough people to cover the work load.
Pros
Transferring is possible, insurance are avaliable after 90 days, vacation time accural begins immediately after hire.
Cons
Long hours. Low wages. No retirement plans offered.

Get in, get out
Microbiologist (Former Employee) –  Seattle, WAApril 19, 2017
If you really need experience, IEH seems not to have a problem hiring people fresh out of college. That being said, pay is on the low side even for the industry and there is no built in system for raises or advancement. They hemorrhage good employees so who is left is just barely enough to keep the lab running. And that's where they stay: in over worked, underpaid limbo. Get in, get your experience, get out.

It was excellent work experience, only reason for leaving the job was due to new Family business and my parents needed my help to run the business. Apart from that it was excellent experience, i had wonderful co workers who taught me new lab techniques, the company offered excellent learning experience.

VP, Technical Services (Former Employee) –  Lake Forest Park, WAJuly 6, 2016
A sterile atmosphere but then this is a microbiology lab. Hard for me to get to know my colleagues. Two were friendly and helpful. One was a total snob. Came with the expectation I would be supported in launching my program. Not! No wonder the position was terminated.

Please stay away...
Laboratory Analyst (Current Employee) –  Augusta, GAMay 11, 2016
You will be better off elsewhere. This is not a company you would want to work for. Of course, the benefits and compensation are great. However you should not have to compromise your work/life balance at the expense of inexperienced managers, large work loads, and an inconsiderate job culture.

Challenging and Fulfilling Experience
Director of Quality & Operational Improvement (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TXFebruary 25, 2016
The work is great and the people are as well. Always felt as though we were on a team. Missions and goals were clear: provide great service and partner with food companies in order to maintain public health and safety. The laboratories had mentors in the Operations team and could always get a hold of them.
