IES communications is a great company for service work. The project side of the company has a huge turn over rate. Certain departments also hire individuals that need much on the job training which effects the projects.

Communications Technician (Former Employee) –  West Des Moines, IA Altoona,IAOctober 1, 2018
First thing in morning team meeting to let us know what needs to get done for the day. Stretch right after team meeting. Each group heads out to work area and gets tasks complete for the day.

IES has issues maintaining steady work to maintain a full complement of employees There was far too much "down time".
it forced many good Technicians to leave the company..

Construction Worker (Former Employee) –  Des Moines, IASeptember 15, 2018
The hours and pay were not bad except when they got super busy and worked you to over exhaustion. Management is plain rude for no reason at all. Makes rude comments continuously. I was even threatened and of course nothing could be done about it.

Its a job

Project Lead (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZSeptember 1, 2018
Slave work, no support from upper management. If you are not part of the "group" be ready to work in the hardest areas of the job. They preach safety and make you sign non liability form for them but on the other hand they pressure you to do unsafe tasks.
Pros
you got a job
Cons
No end of the year bonus, poor leadership and backstabbing approach to good people.

Not a fun place to work. Thry make it horrible if you do not fit there click
Service Communication Technician 2 (Current Employee) –  Tempe, AZJuly 19, 2018
Discriminative/bias culture with no business ethics. Management is all about profit and takes advantage of customers/clients. Morally and ethically, you will have to have none and never voice a difference of opinion if you want to keep your job. You have to turn a blind eye to any faults and failure of management or you will be outcasted and targeted and forced out the door
Pros
Pto time
Cons
Low pay, favors the special select group

Overwhelmed company
AV FIELD TECHNICIAN (Current Employee) –  Chandler, AZMarch 27, 2018
A typical work day at this company is having your team lead on a job site making up the scoop of work due to the lack of prints and materials. At this company I've learned that you need to have a flexible schedule and willing to travel for long periods of time. This companies management skills were terrible. The schedules were inconstant, Project leads didn't have or didn't receive any information when starting a project. The workplace culture is about being fast and getting the job done right the first time. The hardest part of this job is working in the summer. The most enjoyable part of this job is seeing the finished product of a job site.
Pros
Health, vision, and dental benefits
Cons
Indecisive leadership

Technician (Former Employee) –  Forest City, NCFebruary 12, 2018
Cut throat, no support from upper management. They form their groups and if you are not part of the "group", then you are pretty much SOL. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Very Poor Management
IT technician (Former Employee) –  Sterling, VAJanuary 22, 2018
The company Leads give you hope of bringing you on with the company within 6-8 months. Giving you false hope on advancement with the company. The managers are to young and have no experience what so ever. They show favoritism to other co-workers they are their age range as well from their own ethnic culture. The management also get mad when you cannot stay for overtime.
Pros
Great place for gaining experience and learning new skills
Cons
Very Bad management

I really enjoyed working here, there were a lot of different people that I got along with and am still friends with today. You are able to learn and grow with the company but it was difficult to move up in the company and get better pay,
