Projectionist (Former Employee) – Tallahassee, FL – June 20, 2018
While everything makes the shift to digital. Working with physical 15 perforation 70mm film was one of the coolest jobs I had. With a standard length movie coming in at 600+ lb and over 11 miles long, by far an amazing technological feat!
Fun work place. Sometimes difficult to work with other and a lot of unordinary people work here.
Usher (Former Employee) – Sparks, NV – April 26, 2018
I personally do not recomend to anyone to work in this place just because the managers are really good about taking advantage of the workers workwise making them work less or work overtime and sometimes not even pay them when they go on there breaks. They're also selfish with money and give the bartenderd less tips.
Interpreter (Former Employee) – west papua – March 4, 2018
great company and was excellent management, the hardest time when move 3D camera from boat to boat for the shot, most of the crew are cooperate help each other. it was a great time because all crew sit together to have dinner, lunch and breakfast
Computer Engineer (Full-time) (Current Employee) – Playa Vista, CA – January 16, 2018
IMAX only cares about upper execs They do not take care of their lower to mid level employees Overworking everyday without true acknowledgment or gratitude for work put forward. No bonuses or rewards for those who work hard besides the upper level execs
Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) – Ontario, CA – December 19, 2017
There was always something to keep us busy everyday. From throwing away unusable products, wrapping pallets and making sure some products were in good condition. The most enjoyable part of the job was how friendly many people were.
Growing company where personal development is encouraged
Office Manager (Former Employee) – New York, NY – November 13, 2017
Was hired in a specific capacity but was encouraged to join different departments for the overall goal of marketing the business. I was promoted multiple times throughout my employment and was able to exhibit all of my talent to the senior and c-level executives. Hands down, on of the better mid-size companies to work for because you are recognized for your efforts and accomplishments.
Hostess (Former Employee) – Apple Valley, MN – October 20, 2017
As someone who is used to working in fast paced environments with many other people, this job was not for me. At least not forever. It was super fun and the free movies almost made it worth it. But most of the time, you would work by yourself for hours on end and not see another person until the next showing. It was nice but eventually, you run out of stuff the clean. Some of the managers were great. Others were unnecessarily strict and uptight. It was a fun job and the perks were great, but not a good job to keep for an extended period of time if you get bored easily.
Great Company To Work For, Great Culture, Hardworking Employees
Confidential (Current Employee) – Playa Vista, CA – September 14, 2017
IMAX is a great company to work for and is not your typical entertainment company. I think that is because they are not just involved in entertainment but also technology--VR is a new business they are actively pursuing. IMAX is the right company for you if you are hardworking and like to wear many hats...work hard play hard kind of place. The location in Playa Vista is amazing as are their facilities and benefits. I will also add that management is extremely strong and down to earth. Almost every executive has an open door policy and is open to hearing your ideas and suggestions. I can not say enough great things and am thankful for all I have learned and gained from the organization
free lunches, great benefits, fun people, awesome location, strong leadership
Operations Manager, IMAX (Former Employee) – Indianapolis, IN – July 22, 2017
Each day was a different experience. Because you knew the cycle of business, you were able to know when to prepare for the next rush of visitors. if you didn't pay attention to that, you could be always playing catch up.
