Safe Place to work

Safety and Health is a big push, safety incentive bonuses to encourage a healthy work environment, communications on a daily basis and as a site weekly.

Management has little experience in the mines or plants or with the customers. There is a disconnect from the workers. The arrive at sites in pointy shoes and want to be pampered while they ignore the safety rules everyone is made to follow.
The react to everything with "initiatives" and constantly change priorities without providing resources. This is typical of businesses but communication is lost the ever changing reorganization. They would change customer formulas without telling them. With the stock dropping like a stone, they have shown no commitment to their people. Cutting lots of jobs and great employees so upper management can try to minimize damage from the poor financial reports.

This company hides a lot of the problems. Starts from upper management . They only support protect their friends and hide look the real problems. As soon as changes are announced the idiot management starts to protect themselves by firing the competent ones. It’s a false “elitist” company. Shame, the French are clueless and don’t see how costs are hidden. Oh well. They deserve what’s coming to them.

I did enjoy working at IMERYS Talc and learned a lot over my 19 years there so far, from the different types of crude to the different applications talc was used in and why talc. I really liked how the company let you take ownership of your job duties.

Very fast and quick place. Hanging big and small bags and letting them fill with chalk is very easy. Having to go outdoors and letting the railcars fill up is very nice as well.

Good company and great people in the filtration minerals team. The company is very large; however, which leads to communication issues and bureaucratic nonsense pretty regularly. Projects move on fairly slowly because of the long approval process and chain of commands to get things done.

The staff is extremely compact which pushes you to work extra hours every day and even during weekend and holiday. The good thing about it is that you are pushed to learn more/new things.

Effective and efficient operational process.
A typical work day consist relieving the previous shift operator after debriefing of issues during his/her shift. Safety and cleanliness is prioritized. Fast-paced environment with minimum supervision in an industrial environment, attention to detail is a strong attribute. Having to make contact with the customer regularly, I've learned the detailed expectations which creates a stronger bond between both organizations. The most difficult part of the job is mechanical breakdown, delayed process, delays production. I enjoy the concerns about the employees and our safety from management, as well as the working conditions and environment.
