Systems Technician in Southern California

Great way to gain experience, although it will be all self taught. You do have flexible access to all they systems and you're able to learn as you go since this Company is not rigged like others which is a great thing. Most of the systems you see are older and you'll rarely get to play with current or newer technology systems such as cloud or cyber security since this is reserved for the more senior staff. Depending where you are assigned, you're mostly by yourself (if you're at a client site) so your work is really dependent on your work style (and how much management likes you) unless you're with one of the Southern California Client Managers (LA & OC). The worst part of the company are the client managers. CEO only listens to the managers (since CEO is in Northern California) and disregards all other inputs. Usually this is not a problem but the managers don't have a great technical understanding of the jobs and duties, they play favorites, take the credit for your work, and discriminate against women. Your duties and you're salary increases are solely based on how much the managers like you but as long as they are happy you can have free reign over what you work on meaning you'll have to do their work. The company doesn't really offer overtime and expects you to respond to incidents or issues (when it should be the managers) and offer unofficial pto the following Friday or so.

Apparently making mistakes and trying to learn from them isnt an option in this company. The moment they see you as incompetent they will not hesitate to fire you. I learned quite a bit from this company but I guess theres not enough room for people to come and improve without being expelled. The manager that you get has you juggling multiple cases that are way out of your pay range, and blames YOU for when you screw up while following their directions.

Systems Analyst in Orange County, CA

Typically work alone and have to figure out all the systems on your own. Work with a lot of government agencies so a lot of the systems are older. They pay is typically under market average. There is no escalation process so you will have to figure every issue. You can learn about all the systems that are available but lacking support from employees. Most of the staff are grumpy and not willing to help. This is for the company in Southern California and not in Fredericksburg, VA although they have the same name but different logos.
