Great place to work in Charleston, SC. The culture is changing to align with a more bold, innovative and employee focused environment. You can not really ask for more in the area of Charleston.

Job isn't worth just benefits
Machine Operator (Current Employee) –  Waynesboro, GAMarch 6, 2017
So far constant schedule changing, limited family time, weekly rotating shifts 1st,2nd,3rd currently hours vary depending on department, "raise" or pay for progression, first ONLY after a year minium and only if qualified (regardless of qualifying date) subject to be held in department after year and qualification impeding further pay for progression or "raise" and a minium of year in New department.

Benefits are good
Bi weekly pay is terrible

Employee (Current Employee) –  North Charleston, SCFebruary 22, 2018
It can be a great place to work. Since the new CEO has come into office the business has done considerably better.

There is room for improvement in terms of embracing innovation, transparency, and personal development but I would imagine you see similar situations at all companies.

All in all not a bad place to be

Too much business travel
HR MANAGER/BUSINESS PARTNER (Current Employee) –  Covington, VAMarch 14, 2018
I traveled more than 3 weeks a month. As a result, I had no work life balance. The corporate office also has too many clicks and people that have not worked any place else but at Ingevity.

Antiquated company with dead end potential.
Operations Manager (Current Employee) –  Charleston, SCJuly 7, 2017
Ingevity is run like the wild, wild, west. If you are used to more progressive companies where employees are treated well and has modern practices, this will not be the place for you. This company is run as if it was the 1970s in terms of HR and management practices. You will learn through observation what doesn't work and be able to apply more efficient processes in the future.
Pros
Coworkers
Cons
Antiquated practices

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Charleston, SCDecember 1, 2017
Good ole boys club. The good people have already seen the writing on the walls and left the company. The main concern of this company is stock price. People are last on their list.

It's a great place to work
Quality Technician (Current Employee) –  Covington, VAApril 18, 2017
It's great to work here at Ingevity. The only issue is the town and the culture for hourly employees. It's been a great opportunity to have a laid back position.
