As an IDA consultant, I worked at US government customer sites much like a staff employee.
IDA supports the Department of Defense as well as the US Intelligence Community. A typical day was on site at the customers facility and similar to that of other US Government workers. IDA coworkers are generally well educated and dedicated.

There are good people there But....
Pay is decent for what it is . It definitely isn’t hard to find a better paying job . You shouldn’t go career there . Plus Management really needs to be revamped. There are a lot of followers. But no leaders . Good culture for what it is .Unfortunately it just takes two bad seeds to mess it up. And trust me it’s not worth the hassle.

Excellent Benefits & Collaborative Culture
IDA has a excellent benefits package and collaborative work environment. I appreciate that they value their employees and provide a good work-life balance.

Stay Far, Far Away
This place is like being in the Twilight Zone. When I interviewed they sold a good story. I worked one day and could not wait to get out of there. The staff is micromanaged by a Security Manager that does not have a grasp on reality and a Security Captain that never leaves the office. I have never seen a staff with such low morale. Do yourself a favor, don't go there.

No PhD? Don't bother
IDA is an entirely research based company. If you don't have a PhD, you don't matter. Support staff are treated like second class citizens. The pay is mediocre at best. There is little room for advancement, and the people that do get promoted move up due to race or favoritism and not job performance. The Management staff are ignorant of how to fix issues and generally don't care about their employees. Departments are forced to work understaffed, while managers demand more with less. The only perk of working for this company is that the benefits package is above average. The clearance process is a pain, and until you have it, you are completely expendable.

Interview Questions

It was a very unique interview. It was about 6.5 hours long and you get a tour of the office, and you get to meet everyone. I really enjoyed it. Instead of asking standard interview questions they mostly let me ask them questions so I asked each employee what their role was and what it was like to work there. They mostly listened and were very good listeners!
