Don’t work here at all costs
Histotechnologist (Former Employee) –  Largo, FLJuly 15, 2019
It is well known in the Histology field that Integrated Regional Labs is a horrible place to work. I was new in the field and was not made aware until after I started. The work load was unable to ever be completed on time due to lack of staff and proper working equipment. They say overtime is not expected but if you leave before the work is done you are belittled, so get used to 10-15 hour shifts 5 days a week and to be asked to come in on your days off if there is still leftover work.
Pros
Good benefits since it’s apart of HCA
Cons
Hours and pay

Job Experience
Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist (Former Employee) –  Okeechobee, FLJuly 8, 2019
IRL was a wonderful company to work for. The company hired me during an internship and I worked for that company for almost 5 years. I learned a lot there.

Medical Technologist (Former Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLJune 3, 2019
The workload at IRL is very high volume therefore you are busy from the time you come in until you leave. The environment in my opinion was very cut throat and pretty for no reason other than the fact that people are miserable. Most of the managers suck and if you want to advance yourself you are in for a long wait and it may never happen. However, the pay is great.

Poor Regional Management - Weak Senior Leadership
Manager (Former Employee) –  Tampa, FLApril 23, 2019
Poor/missing support from regional/senior management. Unrealistic expectations of staff at hospital and market laboratories. Senior leaders continue to make operational decisions and project commitments without proper planning or preparation. Executive/regional leaders have gone to extremes to hold subordinate managers responsible for regional management’s decisions and regional management’s lack of adequate responsiveness only to deflect their own culpabilities and poor operational decisions on local supervisors/managers. Perform your own due diligence thoroughly before making any decision to commit to IRL and the HCA hospital labs they “operate”. Take a close look at their unusually high turn-over rate for Coordinators, Supervisors, Managers and Director’s at their market labs and local hospitals. Then make your own decision with your eyes wide open.
Pros
Dedicated staff of Medical Technologists. Staff make tremendous self-sacrifices to help patients.
Cons
Poor Senior/Executive Management. Management by fear and intimidation.

Difficult place to work
Histology Technologist (Current Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLMarch 26, 2019
The lab needs better management because the leadership is all over the place. Lack of supplies and broken equipment makes it difficult to do your job.

Lack of proper management
Supervisor (Current Employee) –  Largo, FLFebruary 28, 2019
Manager did not order supplies so we kept running out. Lab was temporarily shut down for operating before receiving a license. Not enough staff and bringing hospital work too quickly before problems were ironed out. Lab manager would discuss employees with her door open where staff could hear all. Favoritism towards certain employees that worked there from her previous job. Lack of ownership of problems when things would go wrong. Would finger point and blame others to keep her job safe. Very cut throat environment.
Pros
Some very hard working techs
Cons
Horrible management

Unorganized. Rules, policies, and procedures are randomly adhered to
Medical Lab Technologist (Current Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLFebruary 15, 2019
Very unhappy here. A lot of very nice employees. However, undesirable employees are permitted to give less than adequate care without consequences. Patient care is dangerous at times.

Technician (Former Employee) –  East Florida DivisionJanuary 8, 2019
If you are looking for any kind of job satisfaction , look elsewhere. Patient care is of no concern to anyone in any position of authority...That comes from the top where financial gain and appearances are all that matters

Pay is ok

Busy hard work with no gratitude
Medical Technologist (Current Employee) –  Largo, FLDecember 21, 2018
Basic training and off to the races. Very busy lab with many responsibilities and time constraints. People are not friendly and over worked. Management is unresponsive and makes promises that never materialize. General feeling is they could care less about you. This is a HCA facility and every test performed is measured on productivity. Regardless of work demand, cuts will be made or extra work assigned to meet the manager's and director's metrics which drives their decisions and income.
Pros
free coffee if they have any and usually no cream/sugar/cups
Cons
Paychecks are reliable

Was a good job for per diem, training program is not structured enough
Lab Assistant III, Microbiology (Former Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLNovember 13, 2018
Decent place to work, but as a per diem employee, they never had the hours available that I could actually work. Training was very spotty and was not structured enough. The supervisors don't train you, they have the employees train you and if the employee gets busy with the workflow, then you're left to figure it out on your own, which can lead to errors with patient specimens.

Good Work environment, work ethic and flexible schedule.
Lab Assistant III (Current Employee) –  Fort Lauderdale, FLNovember 4, 2018
IRL has a heavy work flow, but manageable as a team effort. Work requires speed, efficiency, and a proactive attitude.
Though the work load gets heavy at times, we are staffed fairly well a majority of the time, and management in the Microbiology Department stays involved to assist however necessary.

There is very high accountability here, so everyone has to be accurate and efficient in what they do.

great work environment, in that the Lab always throws potlucks, parties and etc for birthdays, or life event celebrations.

Schedule is highly flexible, management is usually willing to work with you around your schedule as it is a 24 hr, 365 day lab.

It takes an incredibly long time to acquire a part-time of full-time position and sometimes they just do not come around.

Per-diem employees work full time hours most of the time but become disposable when the volume drop during certain seasons.
Pros
Fair work environment and good people.
Cons
Only means of promotion is through licensing as a technician or technologist.

The most soul sucking environment I've ever work Ed.
Medical Technologist (Former Employee) –  Largo, FloridaOctober 31, 2018
Management is very cliquie. If they don't like you, they will overlook you for anything positive. Focus on every negative step you make. They "forget" to enter your PTO requests. Only enforce policies on the people they choose. They will avoid you or become argumentative with you when confronted. The staff is very overworked. There is no real structure or organization. If OSHA were to come in and see half the goings on. It would be shut down. When I think of the things that are overlooked. I feel sorry for the patients whose lives are in their hands.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Old out of date instrumentation, Management more concerned about their bonuses, than providing structure, patient care.

Best look elsewhere
Former member (Former Employee) –  FloridaSeptember 25, 2018
Raises are rare and work never lightens up. I think the workers at the base of the pyramid get forgotten. The place I worked seemed to have a poor pool of employable candidates, maybe because of pay?
Pros
Pay is ok
Cons
No room for advancement or raises
