VA Contractor Verify medical claims for Veterans (Former Employee) – Austin, TX – August 28, 2017
I enjoyed my job at Intellectechs contracting with the VA. However, because it was a tech job, the environmental temperature was very cold. Many individuals, including myself wore layers of clothes and sat at the computer wrapped in a blanket. Co workers were very nice and helpful, however the team leaders were confrontational and impatient if one needed help with a computer issue that was unfamiliar. Emphasis was placed on performance with 150 per day expected claims produced. Often times the claims were not legible or had many errors to correct which involved time and consequently lower production numbers. Threats were made if employees were not producing the expected quota for the day. There is a canteen that served food. Staff was expected to take two 15 minute breaks and one half hour lunch break. Often times the lunch lines were very long and took up most of the 1/2 hour lunch time allowed. Overall, I do miss working at the VA and Intellectechs. The HR individuals at Intellectechs were very responsive if I called with an issue or help. Christmas time was a very generous time with this agency. They were good to their employees. The problems that I found were the environmental temperature, management that was not helpful and several that were unprofessional but for the most part, I enjoyed this job and miss working there. I made friends and still keep in touch.
flexible work schedule, canteen, friendly co workers, Christmas bonus
Poorly trained team leaders, environmental temp cold, no time off until 1 year, unreasonable daily quotas
