Much of upper management was changed during 2010 as sweeping comany-wide RIFs terminated the employment of both exempt and hourly employees from receptionist to VPs. Those lay offs resulted in the reduction of expenses those at the top were looking for, but in the process the company lost thousands of years of combined industry work experience and knowledge which those employees had. Those who lost their jobs were not slackers or driftwood, they were dedicated, hard working and contributing professionals.
There can be no feeling of job security when a company has 4-5 RIFs in 18 months. There is no longer a clear elevated corporate goal beyond reducing expenses.
This is a company which does not expect its employees to have any work/life balance. 40-hour weeks were the exception, with 50-60 hours per week being worked by the majority of the employees.
In short: this is not a company I would recommend to any of my job hunting friends.
