Program Officer (Current Employee) –  Washington, DCAugust 18, 2018
The organization has dedicated staff who implement good projects, but the workplace culture is very gossipy, the organizational leadership has poor management skills, and the HR is pretty useless.

Program Officer (Current Employee) –  Washington, DCApril 29, 2017
IRI is a great place to work for someone early in their career, and the projects that the Institute works on are varied and interesting. However, upward mobility is capped very quickly (~5 years), and leadership is stagnant. For more senior mid-level staff, opportunities to manage/mentor junior staff vary wildly depending on geographic region.

Trainer (Current Employee) –  Washington, DCMarch 6, 2017
I am privileged to work with the folks at IRI both in DC and abroad. They are deeply committed to their mission of helping people bring their countries to personal freedom, economic stability. They are bright, engaging, unselfish, and bring an attitude of persistance and good humor to what is sometimes a very difficult job.

Great Internship Experience
Intern (Former Employee) –  Washington, DCFebruary 14, 2014
IRI was a great way to get to know DC over the summer. I was there as an intern for 3 months and was offered the opportunity to experience experience a range of departments and functions of the organization. They also facilitated our inclusion in conferences organized locally and put together excursions to local attractions.
Pros
Bagel Friday, great staff, good atmosphere
