Unpaid Intern
Casework Intern (Former Employee) –  Charlottesville, VAJanuary 23, 2019
I was an unpaid intern with the IRC, but I really appreciated the hands-on experience and learning opportunities. I got to work with resilient, inspiring clients and staff while serving refugees in my community.

I was so happy to intern here. I learned a lot about case management and working with consumers of different nationalities. I learned a lot about being compassionate and empathetic.

Working with refugees takes a toll on you and if you are intending to work in Direct Service at the IRC, I would caution you. The office culture is non-transparent and career advancement is minimal.
