I worked there for 10 months. During that time I kept hearing how I was doing a great job but when I went in for my annual review I was informed that I have done nothing but screw up the hole time. I left voluntarily feeling like I was set up for failure. Upper management was great. Lower management had no leadership potential.

The Travel was the worst of it. My wife and I moved about 5 times in a 6 month time period. I wasn't aware that this would be the case. Other than that it was a great company. I'd work for them now if we didn't have to live in a hotel all the time. They paid great, they were really good about advancement too. they allowed us to train and work online for a journyman license. Very helpful and i wish i would have taken them up on their generosity.

Maybe growing too fast. Not enough experienced electricians to train all the very new ones being hired. Jobsites are inconsistent with expectations, though they are trying to enforce company wide standards from corporate office.
Not enough minorities of any sort getting into leadership positions. The construction culture does not support diversity very well. This company is lagging in this regard, but perhaps not any more than any other company doing construction. As one of these minorities, though, I find it difficult to accept.

Interstates is a very well ran company, very family oriented and care about their employees safety on and off the job sites. The insurance benefits are some of the best. I would recommend anyone hire on with Interstates!!

They get too involved in your personal life. Must put in for time-off even if it is a holiday. Advancement is only possibly if you are a "certain" type of person. DO NOT think for yourself or suffer the consequences. Not quite the company they portray themselves to be.

Great company to start a career with. Management listens well. Zero injury culture, I enjoy working here. Typical work day ranges from 8-10 hours. Safety is number one priority. breaks are given if needed.
Work for 2.5 years never laid off. But they pay about 5 bucks less than every other contracter. I always felt they tried to be too envolved in my personal life. Best tools by far of any contractor I've worked for always willing to make the job easy on the worker as long as there was productivity to be gained
