Apprentice Electrician (Former Employee) –  Sioux Center, IAMay 25, 2018
I worked for Interstates for almost two years and I gained a lot of experience in working hard and electrical. There is a very good safety culture that keeps you feeling safe while working.

Industrial Electrician Apprentice (Current Employee) –  Sioux Center, IAApril 22, 2018
Maybe growing too fast. Not enough experienced electricians to train all the very new ones being hired. Jobsites are inconsistent with expectations, though they are trying to enforce company wide standards from corporate office.

Not enough minorities of any sort getting into leadership positions. The construction culture does not support diversity very well. This company is lagging in this regard, but perhaps not any more than any other company doing construction. As one of these minorities, though, I find it difficult to accept.
Pros
Good corporate culture; constantly trying to improve
Cons
Not enough experienced personnel in the field to support the growth happening

Apprentice Electrician (Former Employee) –  Sioux Center, IADecember 10, 2017
It gives you stability but the foreman’s was young and didn’t know more than the apprentices. Lack of knowledge when you asked questions to people who’s in charge

Electrical Apprentice (Former Employee) –  Clovis, NMNovember 10, 2017
Management needs better communication and clearer objectives. The hardest part of the day is when you need answers and no one can help. This hours are ok but the conditions are not up to par.

Manager (Former Employee) –  Cincinnati, OHOctober 13, 2017
They get too involved in your personal life. Must put in for time-off even if it is a holiday. Advancement is only possibly if you are a "certain" type of person. DO NOT think for yourself or suffer the consequences. Not quite the company they portray themselves to be.
Pros
If you do certain activities, you're good!
Cons
Personal life suffers

This company exceeds on Education. They have several programs for their workers to educate them. They actually pay for you to get your license. The schools that they recruit from have amazing young men and women with high morals and values.

low pay but always had steady work
Industrial Electrical Apprentice (Former Employee) –  nationwideOctober 6, 2015
Work for 2.5 years never laid off. But they pay about 5 bucks less than every other contracter. I always felt they tried to be too envolved in my personal life. Best tools by far of any contractor I've worked for always willing to make the job easy on the worker as long as there was productivity to be gained
Pros
good tools, steady work
Cons
pay, perdiem, not much over time 45 hrs a week

Best Company I ever worked for
Technical Sales Specialist (Former Employee) –  Sioux Center, IAJuly 30, 2014
I held the job for a short time and left the company due to the long daily commute. The company believes in training, safety and making sure all employees have the company's vision.

I learned so much in my short tenure and continue to use the skills acquired there every single day.
Pros
Training, work environment, people
